A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

If you’re looking for opinions, I’ll offer one.

Eww. Fv@k No. And I mean no disrespect. But it looks better as is.

But, you’re half my age, so, there’s that. Whatever floats you our boat, Ian.

If you aren’t soliciting opinions, I’ll delete mine. But, at least learn how to post a picture. Instructions linked in my signature.

I'm thinking of painting the motor and wheels first but leaving the tank and fairings alone for now, I'm a big fan of green and the only reason I really want a repaint done is because the tank is past touching up if I take upclose pictures. Maybe I'll think of a different colour but I should show upclose pictures of the tank to give better context

Your tank and covers seem to be in impeccable condition, don't ruin them... My vote also goes to keeping it as is.

If you want that green, then I strongly recommend to use a second-hand set of covers and tank.

Another vote for leave alone. However if you were to put a Kawa badge on the tank......?
Your buddy's neighbours probably like him being so easy to keep up with :)
Seriously, I'm rewilding our place.
Let your garden alone and it will show you what it is trying to become.
I'm big into letting things alone, apart from junk that is.

I'll have to get upclose pictures of the tank and fairings to really show them, I just feel like if I rebuild and bore the motor, I'm gonna clean it up and alot of other things and it might not match the rest of the bike and it feels a bit wrong leaving the most cosmetic part of the bike in the shape it's in.

Maybe I'll just try and clean everything as much as possible but do nothing invasive, who knows, still having dilemmas on what I should do.

Thread title says "Opinions". That green looks good on the Kawa. sport bikes, I have a Kaw. ZRX that color & like it just fine. My opinion, Your picture of the orig., even not in pristine condition looks way better than the green & black. Also you've mentioned the upgrades you are considering. All that will not make your bike a "sport" bike, it always was & always will be what we called a "Cruising for burger bike", or a "Disco Cruiser", nothing wrong with that just ain't a "sport" bike. Like I've recommended before, keep this bike nice & use the money you've planned for upgrades, that will probably make your bike worth less, to find a nice or project "sport" bike. But for goodness sake don't paint that thing Kawa. green, just doesn't work, at all, with that bike.

Not crazy about it, but then again I'm not riding it. Personally I'd rather see a bit of tired original paint, but I'm not particularly concerned with perfection.

I do dig black wheels though.

You can probably source a tank and panels cheaply enough. any junkyards near by? try c list and get a non runner if you can and cannibalize for these and other parts.
Do that paint like a mad man and treat those bits like weekend clothes and the original as sunday go to meeting.
Somewhere there's a guy whose never seen this forum who sadly covets an original tank and panels like you have.

Its OK to cheat on your mistress but never your wife.

please dont ruin such a beautiful shade of blue with such an ugly color of green

Pretty brave asking color opinions on an internet forum! If it needs to be redone, have fun. I think quality work is going to be more important than the particular color.
