A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Throttle cable from GS500 on GS450 = Problem!

Hi Guys,

Long story short, on my GS450 I have a GS500 right hand control switch (the original one is dead - actually worse than dead!). The GS500 switch requires a different throttle cable. The end towards the handle bar is thinner and connects to the switch in a different way than on a GS450, so I got a GS500 throttle cable. That now connects fine to switch, but the inner part of the cable is too short at the carb end

I have been thinking all night about solutions, is there no way a GS500 handle bar switch can be used on a GS450? What are my options?

Motion pro will build you a cable with custom length & you can specify the type of end points. I know there is a place in the UK too, maybe "Speedy cables" but I could be wrong on that. Google will know though... probably one in Denmark somewhere :)

Google Venhill Cables for the UK. Not cheap, though.

It seems to me I remember my handgrip on my 450 was able to be separated from the switch housing. Not sure if they are interchangeable between the 450 and 500 switch housings but it may be worth looking at.

I see, my option is a specific / custom throttle cable. I will also check the handgrip like suggested by LAB3.

Thanks so far.
