I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Changing my single piston standard brake caliper on my GS1000C to a twin piston from an SV650 , as far as I am aware the master cylinder on my model has a 16mm bore so expect i will need to go up in size , does anyone have any recommendations for a new master cylinder. Will the master cylinder from the twin disc GS1000 work ?

Any master with a 5/8" or 16mm bore will work.

Thanks my mistake thinking my present bore is 16mm, it being actually 14mm since discovered after doing some research.
Part number for master cylinder piston on single disc model 59600-33810 14mm
Part number for master cylinder piston on twin disc set up 59600-47810 16mm

is that caliper a direct bolt on replacement or have you modified it to fit?

The short answer is no. I few years ago, got a complete front braking system for 06 sv650s for real cheap. I deemed the calipers too much work for a retrofit so I binned them. I ended up using the 650s MC, two stainless lines, antidive delete, overhauled stock calipers and new ceramic pads. All this made a very noticeable difference. Totally happy with the front brakes.

The new style bracket already fits the SV caliper... I'm using them now. They are also on the V-strom and the EX650 :)

Your stock master will work. Single brake model are usually 14mm piston.

If using it on a single brake model you need to use a Disk from a Honda Blackbird.

We used a simple strap bracket in the early days as UK GS NUT has done but it's not totally safe as you're relying on the torque on the bolts only to stop it rotating around the caliper. It's meant to be triangulated back so that can't happen. I'm surprised you can get a kosher MOT in the UK with it like that. :)

My take on this (inspired by Salty Monk) - CBR600 rotors, Concours calipers and master cylinder. Original Connie brackets with extensions added (welding by professional and tested by certifying authority) No shims between hub and disks. Bike is GS1100GK which has fatter forks than the standard 1100G

Can anyone confirm which year disc from the honda blackbird to use which fits the single disc gs1000c ? My research comes up with the pre 1999 model with the same size inner bore as the GS at 58mm but pictures posted on this forum seem to show the later 99> model pattern disc which has a 62mm centre bore.
