A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Turn Signal Gremlins

Yesterday I noticed right rear turn signal not working. Tapping/twisting the stalk got it to flash briefly. Last night because I was at Walmart anyway, I picked up 4 bulbs. They didn’t have the 23W ones my manual calls for, so I got the 21W bulbs they had on the shelf (actually in a locked case I had to bother someone to help me get). But I digress.

This morning, on taking things apart to find the source or the intermittent signal, I found the broken connector circled in the first pic. It being Labor Day and the local hardware store closed, my repair solutions were limited. I found a copper battery lug in my stash of terminals that some quick hammering and some dremel work transformed into just what I needed.

I was pretty proud of myself for this repair, got everything re-wired back up. Test. Right rear signal works great, but now the F#@$&*g Left Rear signal doesn’t. I swapped bulbs, new ones, old ones. Nothing. When I flick the turn signal left, the dash light and front left come on solid and the left rear does not light.

So what could I have done while fixing the wiring in the right rear stalk to make the left rear stop working?

I’m going for a ride. Too nice a day to waste. No one needs to know where I’m going anyway.

I think I got it. I think I pulled the +wire to the left stalk as I was working under the fender. Working on it now.

Iu's just going to ask if you had slightly tugged on any other wires while fix'in the first one, makes good sense. Hope it's fixed.

All good. Sometimes you just have to B!itch about something out loud (or on an Internet forum) to somebody besides your wife (she is not sympathetic at all).

NOW I’m going for a ride. Thanks for reading. :D
