All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Only need to read this first post:

Because I can never find what I want in the threads, I started to put together a list of my favourite threads that contain information that would be useful to me for my own GS1100G rebuild project (my GS1100G rebuild). I have only gone back a couple of years and I have only searched threads in this forum. I will use this thread as my project resource thread. I thought I would share it with anyone else who is doing similar stuff.

The listings are made in chronological order with the oldest start date first. I detail the start date of the thread and the number of posts in it. I have also listed tags for the items in the threads that interest me. I am a novice rebuilder doing a complete rebuild of my Dad's old GS1100G which we have had in the family since new.

motomike - thanks for that. I missed that one for sure. Brilliant thread. I have added it now.

I find the problem with forums (and stuff like Facebook) is that as soon as your post ages it just dissappears. The search functions are tedious and keep coming up with errors. It is one reason why the main part of my bike restoration is being documented on a Blogger.com blog. It is so much more flexible and useful for me.

This is a bump so I can find it again.

Does it matter that you have a couple of non-shafties in there? :-k

The '79 1000L and the '82 1100E are both chain driven. :o

I did not browse those threads, there is probably a lot of good information in them, but you stated it was for shafties.

Good work with the list, though.

If you want to make it a little more complete, you could add the 850 threads, too. I think there are a few. :D

.

Steve thanks for your post. I have chosen some non-shafties because those threads have some really good advice/photos/dliemmas that are relevant to my own rebuild. I am sure that some of the 850 threads would do as well. I will check them out and add.

Greetings
