    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So, my buddy's son has one of these things. A little 250 sport bike. Anyway, he's had it setting for a couple years in his garage. Wanted to get it started to unload it. New battery and it fires right up. But pull the clutch in and drop it in gear and it stalls. Seems the clutch is locked up. I have to figure that the clutch discs have just dried out from not running and are stuck together. Anybody have any ideas on how to break these loose? I was thinking about just getting it in gear, roll along and pull the clutch in and out while hitting the throttle. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. I'd hate to pull it too far apart because I'm not sure how available the parts for this kid are.

First of all, most of us probably have NO idea what a "United Motors 250" might be and most likely have never seen one, let alone worked on it. :-\\\

However, that seldom stops us. Putting it in gear might work. Try it in top gear, rather than first.

Oh, it's one of those cheap Korean or Chinese made bikes. Went out of business back in 2009.
Told him not to buy it at the time. I had a line on a nice GS500F for the same price and it was only a couple years old and mint. But, did he listen...... Noooo.
 
Well that was an easy fix. Drop it in gear and it stalls, but the clutch isn't hung up. Bike rolls free. So, it has to be electrical. Check the side stand switch and it's wide open. One paper clip later and I'm riding it up and down the driveway!
 
Careful... that paper clip probably cost about a tenth of a cent.

Misc. non-available parts fabrication @ $40

Tax on invoice total @ 6.875% $9.63

Total: $149.63

Too funny. But I like the barter system. I think he's going to be making me a couple of new bunks for my little boat trailer :)
 
I can't believe no one has asked yet, so

Could you please SHOW us what you paper clipped back into running condition? Macgyver used lots of those to do amazing things!
