A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

SMH, but maybe it's just me. I spent a couple of hours browsing Craigslist and it's either sad or comical what people think their non cared for junk is worth. I've come to the conclusion that the only way to buy an older used bike is thru the forums. Better stuff, from people who know what maintenance and upgrades are and actually do it. Better to pay a certain premium unless you are looking for a project full of unknowns.

Yeah, it's a given that Craigslist owners will have destroyed more than they fix and the bike is in worse shape now than it was when they bought it. There are exceptions, but boy are they rare. LOL

I have found a few nice bikes on Craigslist, but you do have to shovel through a lot of crap before you find a pony.

On Craigslist, nice usually means most of the parts are still there, nothing has been hacked off the frame and the rust is less than 1/8" deep. LOL

It's the same in every country. One thing I learned though is to just keep it at, good deals are few, but come along steadily.

After experiencing same on kijiji I posted a want ad, and that worked. PO was looking for good home for his GS and contacted me instead of posting

It's (theoretically) spring, so the fantasy pricing is in full force. Some people have spent all winter tripping over a bike, dreaming of the phat cash they're going to get for it in the spring.

If it ever frickin' warms up around here, CrackList is going to be NUTS.

The sheer number of scams and used, overpriced Harleys for sale makes it a chore to look through Craigslist, but there are gems in the piles of manure.

The paint looks like someone decor painted it with a sponge. LOL The photos aren't that great, but I think it will not look nearly as good in person. I would have to go look at it though to be sure.
That's why it took me so long to find my GS650G for $900. Over priced, older condition machines all over the web.

One of my activities during my lunch hour is check craigslist for motorcycles and parts, I see the same guys relisting their over priced stuff time and time again, some ads going for more than a year easily. The last bike I bought (myGS550E), the ad was up for 8 to 12 hours before I had money in the seller's hand, did not haggle either because his price was right. You just have to search and keep searching.

Everything is spray can painted flat black- air box in the the trash ,emgo pods, stupid $13 mufflers or mufflers chopped off, front fender in the trash with the sentence "Runs but needs carbs tuned."

That exactly describes the 550 I bought. Dude wanted $1200. Got it for less than half. Pretty sure most of the knuckleheads are asking triple just for fun.

Most recent CB750 I saw had a locked motor, needed carbs cleaned / synced, needed brakes rebuilt, needed rust cleaned out of tank. Title signed by someone else. $1500... insane.

The best-priced bikes are "garage finds". Its been cluttering up a garage or shed for decades, and someone who knows what it is finds the dust-covered bike and makes an offer.

Craigslist is in Aus but has buggerall on it at present. The most popular equivalent here is Gumtree. That's where I found my GS750E!

I thought Indiana prices were silly but I just looked at San Antonio and suddenly feel better about our overpriced junkers.
