    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

VM carbs fuel T's queery

On the GS VM26/28's it has a single T in the centre feeding all 4 carb float bowls. The old Kawasaki Z900/1000's had 2 T's feeding 2 carbs each.
My question is, which is the better set up?
I am thinking the most effective mod would have 2 T's feeding 2 carbs, 1 each side, with a "balance" pipe in the middle.

Any thoughts?
 
I would have thought as long as the carbs were getting sufficient fuel then that's all you have to worry about and the governing point would be the size of the tap outlet.
 
I don't think the 28's will use fuel any faster than the center feed can supply it. Might be a nice science experiment.
 
The two outer carbs are closer together on most models. Is there room enough for the Ts there?

Also one hose is hard enough to connect, and it works fine. Why add more pain?

Functionally it won't matter at all I don't think.
 
Maybe for track bikes where they are using more fuel quicker 2 fuels T's would be better.....maybe, but with our applications I can't imagine for a second the bikes would be able to use fuel faster than the one T could supply it.

yes there is, the Z900's had the same carbs, with T's on the outer 2 carbs only. the inlets between 2+3 were blanked off.
I have read a few places that the VM carb float bowls suffer from fuel depravation at constant high speeds, due to the physical lack of fuel flow through the pipes.
I have a fuel tap from a 750 slingshot on my GS which has a larger (8mm, if i remember rightly) outlet
 
I would think you will have to fit bigger float valves to get faster fuel flow. A lot of fuel can pass thru the T piece with a good head of fuel, eg a full tank.
