I am planning on installing these NOS Morris wheels on my GS1000. I am going to paint them first and I am thinking the best appearance contrast for my bike would be to paint them Satin Black with no aluminum highlights. What do you think?

I'd go with the same blue you have on the bike, and I'd leave the rims bare metal, or maybe black....

If you wait a little I will be set up for powder coating, you can do the wheels then.

Just need to find an oven big enough for wheels to fit.

I'd leave em just the way they are

Best to get one big enough for frames.....

Another vote for leaving them alone. I assume the paint is well executed since they are NOS as you say. To me color matched wheels are kind of disco.

I would have to agree with Ed and Dan, I would hit them with some engine brightner and ride. The only other option I would consider is solid matte or satin black..but thats me. :o

They are new but old. The paint on the front rim is chipped and the clearcoat is yellowed. It need to be refinished before going to the trouble of buying new tires, mounting etc. IMO the stock gold wheels nicely contrasted my GS1000 when it was all blue. Two contrasting colors works well, three contrasting colors ( Blue or Gold wheels) might be over the top. I tend to agree with the majority (Ed, Dan & JWhelan65) the black wheels is the way to go. Powder coating too

satin black 'em... can't stand the gold wheels with the polished bits ;)

and definately don't colour match em to the blue.... tackier than a tacky thing on an extremely tacky day :D

I like them the way they are.
If I was going to paint them, I would use satin black and leave the rim polished.
I REALLY don't like the look of ALL black wheels.

Steve. The bike is looking sharp!! I would keep the original color and bright aluminum scheme. Ray

Fall Project Progress

Fall Project Progress

Stripped them back in August, figured I better paint them while we still have 70 degree days. Taping

If you look closely at the Center Hub you can the clearly see the Parting lines on each spoke. When these were manufactured Morris used the same mold for the center portion and just swapped the outer wheel portion for 17, 18 or 19" wheels

Finished in VHT Brake Caliper Satin Black (thanks for the tip Bruce). VHT recommends baking them at 200F . . . Tom do you have your oven working yet?
Lips are polished with sandpaper . . . should pop with some Mothers & Elbow grease. New bearings too. Anyone selling a 130/90-18 they never used?

its your bike, do what colour YOU want, not what others tell you to do. but powder coating is the way to go imo

Do you know if these wheels are specific only to the Suzuki GS? They resemble the stock Enkei wheels from the early 80's KZ1000. I really like the look of the KZ wheels and would like to do a swap, but cannot find any information as to if that is possible.

I was just thinking if your wheels would fit both the KZ and the GS bikes, then possibly stock KZ wheel of the same years would fit my '78 GS750E as well?

Thanks.
