What's in your garage?

Thought this was a good time to renew this thread from Steve....In the home reno thread I posted pics of our recent house reno,,,which lasted 6 months..major changes. Got some changes in the garage too...

The tank on the left looks like a perfect match for my side covers ;-)

Y'all seem to have forgotten the most basic item. Before you can show what's in your garage, ya gotta have a garage!

My tanks are up high on a shelf. Don't want anything dropping on them. 👍

Does everyone have a gas tank on the self?
.....

Well, that would require having garage, and having shelves... and I suppose having a bike then having only the tank.
Er, um, well, maybe having a bike and then getting another tank .... yah, why is it that you guys have extra tanks...?

I have extra seats, from getting upgrade/replacement and keeping the original. (no need for picture of cluttered stack of boxes in corner.)

my 83 blue tank is off my crashed bike... my black one is off an 82-750e parts bike and the Dr650 tank is my stock tank... I put on an after market acerbic

I picked up a tank, front fender, and tail piece years ago, at a great price.
The plan was to have them painted and replace the ones on my GS, but it hasn't happened yet.

Ed's Garage - Raiders Man Cave

Ed's Garage - Raiders Man Cave

Alright, you guys know how I love to post pics of my garage...and I happen to have two tanks removed from my "T's".

Here's how my riding "T" currently sits. I need to remove and rebuild the forks and I have a new ignition switch to install. I'm putting off the GS1100 dual fork upgrade until I can get them cleaned.

It's a tight squeeze but I've got the riding mower wedged in there pretty good.

And....here's the reason I am delaying my work -- TKR (Total Knee Replacement).

I'm having the left knee done as well...only 4 weeks in between surgeries...call me crazy but I only have 12 weeks of short-term disability before my employer can let me go! It's been just over two weeks and I've graduated to a cane from the walker.

Ed

Best hope for your knee replacements!!!
I have a lady friend who's just too scared to have her knee done. WAY overdue, she rather limp around with a cane.

Thanks Bill,

I had both knees scoped during military career (2001 & 2004) for torn medial meniscus.

My current job of 17 months was the culprit for my decision. Walking 13-15K steps, M-F and only the wknds to recover was too much for me to endure.

I'll take more pics of my garage as I have acquired a Kobalt rolling toolbox!

Ed

Ed, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Waaay back in the 90s my father had both knees done at the same time. He didn't want to have to do two recoveries - he wasn't one who liked to sit still. It really changed his life for the better.

Thanks for the kind words Glen.

I can't imagine having no strength in both knees while doing the simple things at home like going to the toilet and taking a shower. That's why I have to heal the new knee and bring power back to my thigh so I can repeat the healing process.

I'm slowly starting to learn that lounging around and being cooped up at home can be depressing. I asked my wife if we could go out to dinner after my first visit to the Dr. That was a painful experience! He put pressure on my joint to get it to -4? on the exam table. The aspirin I've been taking has prevented swelling in my ankle.

Sorry for being long-winded but "yes!", this is a life changing experience. An improved Quality of Life.

What's in your garage?
You can see the right mirror of my bike...
The "Brady Hardware" sign was being thrown out from a local business. I rescued it. I'm told the lights don't work, but I haven't really investigated.
The traffic light is plugged in to the garage door opener, so when the garage door opener light turns on, the traffic light turns on.
My grandfather's hand drill is on top of the "d" in "hardware" and my father's medical bag from his residency is on the "ar".

I really like my Motion Pro carb adjustment tool: https://www.amazon.com/Motion-Pro-Carburetor-Adjusting-Tool/dp/B001DDH2ZY On my GS, you do need to remove part of the choke to use it. I like a nice set of t handle allen wrenches, and also 3/8" drive allen wrenches. A multi meter in necessary, and a trouble light is nice. I don't have room for a bike stand. I find that I use the heck out of a low rolling stool. I use the heck out of this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/mechanics-roller-seat-61653.html I've been using a step ladder instead of the IV stand. I use the heck out of quarter inch drive ratchets, but I've got up to 1/2" drive. A soldering iron and shrink tube is useful, as is a decent crimper and decent connectors to crimp. For me, PB Blaster is crap. I like liquid wrench much more. I like Kroil the best, for a penetrating oil. http://www.kanolabs.com/google/?gcl..._zwMKXJvSZ_KUwSFVuL7ZRkajk2aNkr0aAlkkEALw_wcB Drive bits for your screw driver are great. I also like a low power electric screw driver. My hands hurt pretty quickly from repetitive motion of a screw driver. My drill has a lot of power that I usually don't need. A vice on the work bench is useful.

We had quite a mess in our garage. After getting rid of a parts bike we had a yard sale, then hauled a load of junk away. Now we can fit both bikes and a car in here. I plan on keeping it clean this time.

Yeah right! LOL

I guess, in regards to the original post, must haves in here for me are a radio, good lighting, ventilation, bench vice, air compressor, welder (both stashed under the shelf) rolling multi drawer tool chest, and hopefully the tire changer will prove to be a valued addition to this collection of stuff.

Before spring cleaning it looked like this.

Now I could almost make a u turn in there.
