If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've been thinking about getting a naked Wing for a few years now after working on a few. I've never felt comfortable on Gold Wings, but the early naked bikes fell good under me. I'm looking a two that are both 2 hours from me. One is a 78 GL1000 and I like it's look and think it could be a cool project at a good price.

The second one I found is an 83 GL1100. It is a striped down fairing bike, that just has a nasty look with this Webers sitting on top on the cylinders. I'm hoping to get this one, but I can only get him down to a grand and I have to wait till Monday as it's being stored at a shop. A little more than I wanted to spend as I'm trying to get a place in a industrial park to start my shop, but it's really puling my strings. It comes with the original engine and carbs if I can't get the Webers right, but I think I'll figure it out. The original engine blew a timing belt which damaged the engine, but I've recently dealt with that, so it's probably a bent valve. The owner told me the bike only has 31k. https://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/mcy/d/1983-honda-gl1100/6532183737.html

I'd like to do a cafe wing like one I worked on a few years ago. I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

The '78 was probably the worst-carbureted Wing there was. They were playing a LOT with carb sizes and jetting, so each of the first few years (all of the 1000s) was unique in that respect. The 1100 was a FAR better bike. In spite of the Webers, I would go for that one.

Now, where is the "Wicked Wing" you mentioned? :-k

I thought maybe you were talking about something like this:

I dig those old 'Wings. I've said here in the past that they are like little big bikes, which is to be taken as a plus. And while I don't think one fits the bill as caf? material, the one pictured is really cool.

I bought a 78 Wing last fall. Will be picking it up in a month or so when the snow goes.

I never thought so either until I worked on the blue one. I think the one with the webbers could be pretty wicked looking if it's done right. Maybe with some velocity stacks on top. A member here had a dark wing tail for sale that give it a flat tracker look. Check out this custom build. http://www.bikebound.com/2017/07/07/honda-goldwing-street-tracker/

That flat tracker is actually pretty cool. Although I'm guessing the lump weighs three times as much as the rolling chassis.

I have a shot at getting the 1100 tomorrow if the other guy backs out or wont beat my offer. I told the seller I'd go $100 over his asking price for $1,300, so the other guy is going to have to top that. $500 more than I wanted to be paying and $300 more than I could have gotten it for, but it's calling me.

That cafe bike is up for sale down in Miami for $3,500. I think the kid sold it for somewhere between $3,000 and $3,500.

I found this one with a GS750/1100E tank on it. Guess what I still have two of? :-\\\ If I can get the one with the Webbers, I can use it in place of the fake tank and air box and remove the underseat tank for a cleaner look in some of the other pics.

Wouldn’t that look even better with the Dark Wing seat I have for sale?

Cool, I couldn't remember who had that offered, I checked out the manufactures site. If I get it the bike, I'll take a better look at it. It's between me and another guy from Naples. I upped the offer to $100 over asking, so maybe that will work in my favor. I really can't go higher than that, so hopefully he can't either.

I just looked at the website again and they have a Darkwing 2 for the 80-83 1100. Do you know what the difference is?

Well this may be a dead thread for now. I missed out on the Weber wing.
The guy offered more cash and I was on the other side of the state.
Probably for the best. I still want to do a wing, but I might wait till after I get my shop going.

Those War Bird bikes...
I want to know: what happens if you forget, and try to move toward the rear of the seat, like most dirtbikers are known to do? I can't imagine what your... um... bluejeans will look like when you come to a stop 100 yards later.
