As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

WTB 1978/79 GS1000 Mikuni VM26 Carb float bowl

I am refurbishing a nice set of 1978 GS1000 carbs and the float bowl was replaced at some point. The PO installed a float bowl from #1-2 on the Number 3 Carb. The result is the drain screw is facing the wrong side. I am looking for the float bowl shown by the screwdriver .. . Thanks!

    1972 Yamaha R5C

Nice paint job. Got a picture of the DS7 250? PS: The Yamaha 250/350's were splitting images except for 100cc displacement. Wonder why the DS7 designation for the 250. Sure there is a reason.

EBay 1981 Kawasaki GPz1100 Local Pick up Machesney Park, Illinois

I agree with everyone's comments. I am not interested in buying just sharing GPz angst. Looks like this 81 GPz1100 is relisted again. Probably the local pick up thing and selling during X-mas. Here is a puzzling thought/comment. The differences between a GPz1100 and KZ1000ELR are not all that...

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

The GPz is running really good, starts rights up, charges and the Mikuni smoothbores carbureate well even at altitude. The GPz is a joy to ride around town because its so much lighter than my GS1000. I am still getting used to the GPz gearing which seems like it could use a 7th gear for highway...

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

Thanks Ed & 2Bracing for SH775 detail. I have to read up on SH775s because I am behind the times but then again I like older motorcycles. Since I already own a 82 GPz550 R&R which is the same design as the 81 model but has a different connector/ terminals. I placed a EBay order for 1/4" brass...

    1980 suzuki gs1000st wes cooley

I first replaced the little rubber #2, reassembled still had the rattle. Then replaced the clutch hub nut, torqued to spec and still had the rattle. Finally sent the clutch basket to Falcon, they welded the rivets and my rattle went away. If you can fix your clutch hub rattle with the rubber...

    1980 suzuki gs1000st wes cooley

Majority of GS1000 2 valve motors like your GS1000S develop this symptom with miles. It's called clutch hub rattle and does not hurt anything and the springs are not the cause. Certainly not an endearing noise, reams of threads have been written and you will have to rebuild the clutch hub if you...

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

Is there a thread which lists current motorcycle make & models which come equipped with SH775s. The Ebay SH775 you linked looks weather worn, probably works fine though. Second does the SH775 bolt mounting spacing line up with the Kawasaki R&R bolt mounting spacing?

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

I thought this would be a quick swap: Discard the EBay flywheel which measured lower voltage output and reinstall the KZ550 parts bike flywheel which went smoothly. I bought an open box Rick's KZ550 stator shown installed but it didn't slip right in. The rubber grommet width was 1.25mm wider...

    Tesla DIY shade tree repair

I whole heartedly agree with recycling and making one from two or more parts vehicles. As he stated, its just a matter of time before the Tesla lawyers contact him with no good intent. I think he over spent on that flooded salvage Tesla S for 14K though. More power to him.

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

Looks like Ed was right again. I installed the shiny used EBay Flywheel this last weekend. Tested the stator ouput and the VAC output dropped from 53 to 50 VAC so I ordered a Rick's stator which should be here Friday. I will install the original flywheel while I am at. Fingers crossed for...

    1100g d port head on 1000

I have done the D-Port head with a Wiseco 1100 installed in bored 1100G cylinders, Andrews Cam, RS34 Smoothbores. Good street bike with more torque but 1100G cylinders weigh significantly more than 1000/1085 bored cylinders...

    1981 Kawasaki GPz550: Restoration

Ed, Thanks for sharing your KZ charging issues and your experiences with resolving it. Didn't realize you had all those problems. Since I have a used EBay generator flywheel enroute I will give that a try. I am also going to clean up the stator pole corrosion seen below on the original stator...
