A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Thinking they are designed that way. Back yrs. ago a guy came in the local shop on his GS1100E, said he had an electrical problem, had to be electrical as all his warning lights were on. Mechanic found little or low oil, & when the oil light lit all the lights would light. Riders will be much...

    Pic of the week game

Bein's as I am usually bass ackwards on stuff, thinking most would vote for the most rust, I'm voting for Carter Turk, it seems his picture has the least rust, even less than Baatfam's.

    Carb Leaks (I’ve checked Everywhere!)

Totally understand your frustration but thinking may be when you find and get it fixed you should be good for a while. Years ago I had my CV carbs off 3 or 4 times, looking for a problem, before I found there were "O" rings on the needle seats, yes, that was my problem. A little more info may be...

78 Skunk for sale in B.C. Canada.

Bein's as it's not an all orig. Skunk, I'd like the spoked wheels. I's always been fond of spokes, ran them on my GS1100E for a while. Nice bike & seems very reasonable priced... Just say'in Big Block, for me, the GS1150's weren't near as comfortable as the GS1000's & GS1100's, they seemed too...

Things that make you say why?

Like most everything else, It's what you get yus'to... First few rides on friends shafties it seemed odd, XS1100 really bad... Bought a GS1000G in 1980, and a week later never noticed the jacking again, I had quickly got yus'to it. Probably if Rob rode one for a few days he may think of shafties...

    GS500 Starter Motor into '82 GS450E?

Got no clue about your starter... The GS1100 and GS1150's share the same clutch hub, but with a different # of teeth on the gear, thinking one is 43 & other is 41. I have swapped them before with no problems. For sure not say'in at all it would be the same for your starter.

Anybody got a nice 82/83 GS1100E 'train' headlight chrome ring for sale?

Not black, it's that dark, dank, skanky drab blue, like mine... By far the ugliest of the chain dr. GS1100 colors, even that old fugly black "81" GS1100E looked better... Dang it, why didn't I think to ask about that train light chrome ring?? I need one too... If anybody else might have one.

Things that make you say why?

OOhhh, that's cruel. There's a legit reason Rob's very nice bike is in the living room... but can't think of a legit reason he had that H D.

3-D printed Speedo & Tach needles

Just thinking, you emphasized and made clear about being careful with the screws to get the face off the gauges. I think those screws "are not" Phillips, They are JIS. A JIS screwdriver wiold be way less apt to bugger those screws than a Phillips. For anybody working on these old rice burners...

Things that make you say why?

Kind'f what many driveshafts do, goes round and round and transfers power from eng. (transmission) to rear wheel

Old Bike, new rider, same ol' problems - 1980 GS550E

Most times 12.1 V is not enough for bikes nor autos to crank, soon as hit start button it will instantly drop to under 12 V, but if it cranked when you jumped the solenoid posts, it must have been enough. .. Plugging a green/white to a red/white just don't seem right. If all was good last week...

Things that make you say why?

Rob, let's think this over a little... On "that kind of bike", why would a chain be an advantage over a shaft? Shucks if it were mine I'd drather have a shaft or a belt than a chain.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I thought the U.S. were the only ones who got the GS1000SZ. Thought it had to do with U.S superbikes had to be under 1000cc, also romors were we only got appx. 2500 of them.. I do know our 1000 Kat's came with 34 CV carbs, and am 99% sure they were jetted exactly like the 34CV's were on the GS1100's

What's the hose for coming from the fuel float?

Correct, hose from float is for safety, if float leaks gas doesn't drip on eng. hose should be routed to a safer place to disperse gas... Good luck
