GOOD NEWS,

I am purchasing an 83 kat tomorrow with a good original 83 1100 kat engine.

I will post pics soon. Buddy says the motor is good, frame is straight and I am getting some extra parts with it.

I was begining to think I wouldn't find a kat motor. Motor condition isn't critical, I am rebuilding. He said it ran well before storage.

I think I am going to do the big switch and build the 83 frame and sell my first one stock. I am thinking of doing another conversion and selling it since I have a few extra conversion parts.

I am up to my ears in kats....My 7/11 looks like the buyer may back out so its for sale too. Lots of work to do and winter is over.

Most days are worm and sunny now. 12 to 15 degrees C.

Cheers.

Great news!!! after all there is no such thing as too many Kat's  :D

Glad to hear your back in the game.

Keep them both, Do I see a Pro Stock bike coming soon with lot's of pic's :?: :?: .

You know Katman you never be happy if you stop tinkering with those bikes.

It's like a bad diease you just can't get rid of.

I think i caugh it too back in the 70's.

Here is the motor.

I am told it has yosh stage II cams and camchain. Barnet welded clutch basket.

He spun off the generator rotor and messed up the crank end. So he bought a new one from Suzuki and sent the crank to Yoshumira to weld the new end on and balance the crank....600.00 bucks he paid.

this guy is the original owner "he says" Needless to say I am pretty happy to have the motor. I think I will sell my new cams and keep the yosh. I will sell them for basically what the grind cost me. 300.00 USD.

What a mess.....bikes and parts every where. Any body need any bikes or parts???? hahaah

Here she is......I know she doesn't look like much but she is my new ride.

I am going to return the other bike with the powder frame back to stalk and sell it.

here we go again.....fun WOW.

I've got everything I need now to bolt her together and want to thank all you guys who tried to help with parts and looking for parts and advise.

This site is home to A LOT of rockin dudes.

Thanks again....

Hey Katman as requested, here is a better shot of my Katana, it is an 82 1100SZ (remember I am in Oz where we got the 1100 straight up) it is bored to 1170 with Wiseco pistons, has a hand flowed head (by me :D ) polished chambers and exhaust ports ( again by me :D ) a fully welded crank, and welded clutch basket , a kully lapped and undercut gearbox, polished cases (me again :D ) it is fitted with 18" spoked wheels both ends has Koni rear shocks a polished swingarm, and underslung rear caliper. I have a set of GSXR four piston front calipers to go on it too once I have the adapter plates pretty enough.

Katman, this is great news :) Keep us updated and post lots of pics as you go man, we were rooting for you to get another ride after the demise of the last project.

Dink, your making me want to get a Kat now, that is a gorgeous bike!

It is isnt it Hoomgar!! and the noise it makes :D
And just think Queenie bought it for me for xmas.
I only wanted one for twenty years, and she just gave it to me, you can now see why she is the Queen of this little forii of ours.

Thanks Katman, I love it !!! I think it is very "period" if you know what I mean, it is very much as most people hotted them up when they were fairly new so I think mine is very representative of how a lot of Kat's were done then.

The only mod missing is possibly the braced swingarm, but not everyone bothered to do that. A friend of mine bent his original one (sliding into gutters does that!) so replaced it with the insurance money.
