Hi all - Well today is Day 1 of this project

A few weeks back I bought a very tidy 82 750E with a very dead engine (number 3 rod decided to come out and play in the light) and have been gradually accumulating parts PLUS an 1127 K model GSXR

- Once I resize some images I'll add a few photo's and keep you all posted as this evolves

IMG_1102.jpg heres the Donor GS750

Sounds like a straight project, just have to make your own engine brackets, mount the engine in precisely the right place.
Sure some guys here ave done it.

I have done it. Mine is also a 82 750. Went a little farther and upgraded suspension. Not a bad idea when you increase the power substantially. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks - I'll be picking your brains sooner or later .

going to run some checks on the 1127 lump this week and assuming it's ok .... Pull it down anyway as I'm going to replace every seal, worn bearing, probably bore it and upgrade the clutch.

once that's done its decision time on rear end - monoshock or twin shock either way some bracing, welding and tidying up

pulled a suitable front end together (USD) and hoping to try 954 yokes as they pull back an inch of drop.

running 5.5" rim at the back so I guess I'll need about a 3/8 offset sprocket - any frame clearance issues ???

probably going to run the oil cooler where the headlight should be behind a vented race number board and use some tricky tiny headlamp

be interested to know your exhaust solution

I didn't have any frame clearance issues. Exhaust was tougher I mounted the engine in the original rear mounts with different spacers. Made front mounts. That setup puts engine back in the cradle therefore no off the shelf exhaust fit. I have seen others who mounted it farther forward so exhaust will fit and fabricated rear mounts.

You are best off locating the motor as far back as possible and dealing with the exhaust clearance issues. If you have the motor forward you risk having the chain over-tightening with the suspension and possibly damaging the output shaft.

Last time i me I did the mod was in a 750 katana frame - picked up stock front mounts and modified rear mounts
didnt have any chain issues but still had to mod exhaust - so may try to mount further back this time

I agree if you don't mind making exhaust mods mounting it all the way back is best in my opinion.

I've seen other people mount the motors forward as well, but as a general rule, the closer you can get the front sprocket to the swingarmn pivot the better as this makes your chain stretch / slack the least.

Out came the credit card today -
Billet 954 triples and suitable bearings
1100 ET "Big tank"
Wheel bearings all round
assorted small stuff from partzilla
Brake pads
Brake overhaul kits
Braided hoses

with last weeks and the weekends additional buying its gong to be a steady stream of parts for the next 2 weeks

Focussing on a high quality ruling chassis first until I get a chance to check out the oil boiler lump properly
Tomorrow its decision day on back end ... twin shock (more expensive but preferred) or mono shock ( the cheaper option as I have the parts)

It's damn hot in Houston ( heat index 109) nevertheless ran a few tests on the 1127 lump

170psi on every cylinder
all gears present and correct
clutch engaging/disengaging
output shaft running true with no beating float present

all looks good so far

might whip cam cover off once I cool down ...... Next project is definitely AC in the garage

I'll take this ...... Not a cam pit or patch of burnt oil residue to be seen - valve seats and seals showing no leak down problems

Large UK/Euro spec 1100et tank arrived from Holland today - faster than some of my home state suppliers

image.jpg

Perfect inside few chips and scratches here and there but for $200 delivered - I'm happy

It's like Christmas - parts arriving from the UK, Holland, Germany and all over the US

tank, exhaust, oil coolers, yokes, bearings, swing arms, cam box cover ( early GSXR without tall breather box) and endless little bags of Suzuki goodness ( new spare parts)

my kinda shopping splurge

40 mm - Which gives you an effective fork length (using 92 GSXR750 forks) of 790mm (ish) only 10mm less than stock gs750e

image.jpg

Et voila - still got to fit bearings and ancillaries

front end will be a real pot pourri -

1100K wheels and disks
750WP forks
954 fireblade triples
zx9r calipers
RC51 master cylinder
R1 throttle assembly
750 E switchgear
either GSXR or GS1150 instruments

headlight is as yet undecided
