hey guys. so as the thread title states, i just recently purchased a 1977 gs750 frame with TITLE and swingarm. i plan on doing the entire build myself but will be asking for advice/using this forum for references, ideas, and knowledge. i'll start by explaining that i do have experience working on motorbikes and cars/trucks, but almost non in custom metal/fab work. i will be sticking with the stock 750 engine from 77-79, probably kickstart only, but down the road will be shopping for a different tank and tail setup.
first question: i have a newer front end (forks, fork tubes, triples, wheel 19inch?, brake discs and calipers) from a 82 or 83 gs650G? can i use them on this frame if steering stem bearings and races are changed?
second: i wanted to match the mag style rim and was hoping to use an 18 inch gs750 mag rear wheel. which years and models had this wheel and will the wheel width/and spacing work with my swingarm?
i have been a great admirer of the GS models and of this site for a long while now!! and i cannot express how incredibly excited i am to start this long and fulfilling journey.
