A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey all!

Recently acquired my GS, and the triple clamp has been machined to remove the handlebar mounts, as the bike has clip-ons on it, but the old triple still looks pretty bulky, so I was hoping to replace it with something a little cleaner. After many hours of digging around, I can't seem to find anyone that makes one that will fit my bike... Dime City has them for the Honda CB range, but that's about it. Has anyone ever gotten a custom triple clamp made for their GS550? How does the process of making it work? Or does anyone know if any companies that would make one that fits my bike?

Thanks in advance for any help!

These are for sale in the UK local to me.

I gather this is the kind of thing you're after?

I'm no expert but doesn't look hard to make. Could you not go to any general engineering firm / CNC shop and get them to make something to your spec if you supply some dimensions?

That's exactly what I'm hoping for! I'm sure I could get it machined, but I'm not sure what to measure, and what's important or not... I know there are specific stem bearing sizes and offsets.

I may be a bit late here but here is a pic of my reworked 550 upper clamp. I have always run clipons and have made a few sets of these welded and machined uppers. These shots were taken a decade or so ago.

Not the best shot of the reworked upper and for some reason I am not allowed to post pictures that I have posted in the past here.
This set of triples has also been bored to fit 37mm forks as well.

Again not the best shot here but my originally modified forks and triples from my 550 are now on my X6.

To add another pic, here is the fork brace on my 550, this is on the GS1000 forks I have been running. I did not have this brace back when I was racing but sure wish I did, this one works very well.
