All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Postings to the For Sale and Wanted sections will be deleted 90 days after the initial posting date if there has been no activity to the thread in the last 7 days. This is done to eliminate dead posts from the forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1983 GS1100 emissions sticker needed

I've been talking to the wife, she's done it before and thinks she can remember how to do it again. She can take and send a picture to an email or text... Hopefully the manual will be good, if not we'd gladly give it a shot.

Okay great thanks! Or just post it here?

Is this what you need?

If you can wait on it, send me a PM with your address and I'll drop it in the mail to you.

I have an 83 owner's manual, and I don't see any emissions info. CA bike, too from San Diego. California is one of the most lenient states I've lived in w/regard to vehicle registrations, plus no annual inspections - except smog. One might get a fix-it ticket (only from CHP, who patrol freeways) if you have something egregious. I've registererd a wide variety of things, 1951 BMW motorcycle from Greece, trailer with no number (they affix one), Norton with no title. Not expensive to do, either. There's a rear inner fender on eBay for $45 that has the sticker here.

Good, glad to see things finally got to roll'in...I rekon a couple of days ain't too bad

A bigger copy:.............

Wow that is EXACTLY what I need! Thanks!

That appears to be an original sticker which was liberated from its fender. Would it by chance be surplus to your cause, and could I arrange to buy it? That would save me the trouble of having one made. Please let me know. Thanks again!!!

(I was confident a solution would manifest before too long!)

An update: armed with the sticker so graciously sent to me by Ron in Kentucky, I was able to send some pics to my friend who quickly whipped up an incredibly accurate facsimile. Thanks Ron!

Needless to say, if anybody else should ever have a need for one of these things, I’m your guy!

For a more relaxed experience join AAA and have it inspected there… worth the 50 bucks in my experience. I’ve done it a few times now. :)

My local AAA won’t even do it. I’m going to an AAA office further away, but they already told me there that the sticker was non-negotiable. Hence this effort which is now coming to a successful resolution.

California is hard….

You need a sticker.... My point is that none of them (DMV or AAA) know what the sticker looks like. What you're doing will work fine. Also you should know that there needs to be two VIN markings. One can be the Stamped one on the neck but there needs to be another one.
Funnily enough on some of the old Suzuki's if you remove the tool holder above the battery there is a white sticker with the Suzuki badge and the VIN number on the frame tube. On others it's tucked on the tube at the back by the rear fender..... ;)

California is only hard if you don't know how to play the game of satisfying their ridiculous rules. :)
