A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

that is pretty how she sits. i have since gotten the rearsets mounted and i am going to be building lots of little stuff tomorrow

I was with you until the hardtail... Why? You were all set to have a great handling bike too...

I understand completely that it's your bike and you will build it the way you want to, I'm just curious as to the reasoning you went with a hardtail as opposed to good twin suspension or a mono-shock.

Are you intending this bike for street use, or are you building a track only racer?

i will ride it on the street and at the strip, i have ridden many hardtails in my day and i dig em

Poor fella. Butchered a nice bike. Its the latest rage, a can of flat black paint and a hacksaw. Sad to see

its okay guys i knew you wouldnt understand. Its not like this is a rare bike-but hey to each his own. And no this isnt a hack job, the bike tracks true, rides just fine and will be finished off nicely

Not really my thing, but as you said - these aren't really rare bikes and its yours to do with what you will. Your workmanship looks pretty good, so kudos for that! Lots of guys will harp on you for hacking up an 82/83 1100E but they're just jealous. Keep at it; I'm interested to see the end product!

thank you sir. I will have some updated pics tomorrow. i got some more bracing done up and installed braided lines, new pads and a new right front rotor. I am hoping to make a big push towards the beginning of next month so i can get it painted and ready to go

I guess you don't have to worry about where you are gonna get any piggyback shocks from :o.

I guess you are looking for red-light to red-light speeeeeed

i can tell you that the bike will destroy the 200 series tire out back in fourth with a bit of clutch work and some throttle doing 50 or so. The fact that the gearing is around +6 helps too and the fact that there isnt all that much weight out back. This bike is just going to be a fun little get around bike. If i want something that handles i will just hop on my 09 r6 trackbike:D

here are a couple of pics from the brake line install and what-not. I also fabbed up a nice little ignition bracket but its not welded in, and the x braved is only tacked in because i ran out of gas for the tig.

My unsolicted opinion

My unsolicted opinion

No matter what everyone says about cutting up a GS1100E, or any bike for that matter, I admire those who have the talent, resources and willing to take the time that can translate one?s vision to bending/welding/fabricating steel in a quest to create a unique two-wheel machine that blends the laws of physical science and something that visually creates an emotional response like, ?wow? or, something similar in nature. Good luck with the build and I hope to be wow'd.

:clap: yes never would have though anyone would hardtailed a bike like this but that makes me love it all the more im deffinately gonna watch this build. i was thinking though(it gonna be hard to explain but) maybe run another piece of tubing from the rear end how you have it in line with that top tube you put in up to that support right behind the carbs. just a thought ya know beef it up a little more it would suck to hit a bump, dip,or god forbid a pot hole at 12000mph and bend that one support the swing arm is conected to seeing as it was never intended for a load like that i just thought it might be a good idea. keep up the good work man

It's your bike. Do as you please.
Looks good so far.

One question though, because I dont know.
But isnt this an awful lots of pressure in one area?

It's not my "cup o' meat", Brandon, but I do appreciate clean work.
Do a good job and I, for one, will keep watching.;)
