DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Here is the exact 1979 425L I drove in high school, got it from my dad with almost no miles. I am hoping to keep it as stock as possible...but the bars are not my favorite, who knows. One of the side covers is cracked so hope I can find an exact replacement!

How bad is the crack? If it's not rally bad a little carefuly applied acetone should weld it back together.

1985 Stock as can be, looking at installing some crash bars or figuring out a way to make sum highway pegs work. 2,786 original miles. Was thinking about going smaller on some custom led signals for the front & rear but then again I wanna be seen not run over but yet it bothers me having those mickey mouse ears sticking out!

It was already welded together once, but the tabs on top are the issue, one is barely there and the other is gone. That along with the cracked area on lower part where it goes into frame grommet. It works, but I have a feeling its only a matter of time before I lose it in the wind haha. I might try and give it another go with some jb weld or similar.

GS 500 engine in a 450 frame, frame and wheels is the only thing left now from the 1980 gs 450, rest is off different bikes or bespoke
fabrications. Very pleased with it only had it on the road about a month took 3 years to build mostly due to lack of funds, but now its finished im really pleased it pulls like a train handles fairly well for them tyres, theres a few things i want to change but for now i'm enjoying the rides

I had heard that this wouldn't work because the frame would block the exhaust ports on the 500 engine. Beautiful work! I love it! I want one! :)

I'll second that!

Bigyam, I still say that is one sweet looking twin! Well done again

I could be wrong, but looks like he got around that by steeply curving the exhaust at the ports. Pretty sure both the 500 and 450's pipes normally extend forward of the frame.

Yup, it's official that there is now a reasonably simple way to get a 500 into a 450 frame :D

I'm glad it can be done. If I ever blow up my motor, I may look for a GS500 engine to swap in :)

I was reading some details about the GS450/500 and GR650 swaps before and there was some talk of a GR head being put onto the GS500's cylinders. I don't know if all the internal parts would line up but if they did, it would save the custom exhaust work.

I added some drag bars in black... I really really like them!

On the side of the road with a flat tire (bad install the day before)

Really? I have some almost flat drag bars on mine now that make my hands numb. I like the look, but uncomfortable as heck.

New guy with my work in progess...

5593 miles, hasn't been on the road since 82ish. One of those bikes that got taken apart by a frustrated owner with no idea what they were doing, so it just sat. Was stock when I got it 3-4 weeks ago, but was missing some key components... anyway, I'll start a build thread here pretty soon.

That's a sweet machine, I wish Suzuki had brought those here.

That's pretty cool.
