A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a question about my 77 GS750 B. I got a replacement seat cover from (pit-replicas, eBay.) I am getting ready to replace my seat cover and noticed the cover was held in by pop rivets to the seat pan.

Is that stock from the factory? (if so, does anyone know the rivet size?)

Ill post pics when I get home from work.

Thanks

I'm not familiar with all of the GS models so take this with a grain of salt... but no, I do not believe pop rivets were a factory feature. From what I can tell, most seat covers were secured with sharp metal prongs that pierced the edge of the cover and were then bent down.

Google for "upholstery tacking strip". Something like that. If the prongs are no longer on your seat pan, you can possibly buy these strips (they're quite cheap) and then rivet them on.

Not stock. there were V shaped tabs tab the seat cover was punctured by and then folded down to secure the covers. Theres a place that sells tack strips that you rivet on and then use like the OEM setup but I cant remeber the company name.

That is what I thought, but wasn't sure. I can tell that the bottom pan had been rattle canned, and the sharp edges of the pan were covered in electrical tape under the cover.

Thanks for the help guys
