Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I put my spare set of carbs on the new bike the other day and she fired right up. Held a charging voltage of 13.8 at 4,000 RPMs and all the electricals worked, so i figured what the heck..may as well do another one. Here the jumping into it point.

Started the tear down today as well..took the wiring harness out and removed all the scotch locks and blue crimped wire splices. Resoldered all the wires back together and used black liquid electrical tape to seal the joins and all the scotch lock holes. I HATE SCOTCHLOCKS!!!!!!! The bike is down to removing the engine, wheels, and the front end. I am gonna investigate powder coating cost for the frame and bits for this project.

Looks like it's going to be a fun one :). I like the non-shafty 1000's better than the shaft-drive ones as far as the look.

I've got 2, brand-new OEM side-covers for that bike if you want them. :)

They've got the emblems and everything.

That's some melted wiring!

What does the back of the fuse box look like?

I have the side covers..werent on when i took the pics. That saddleman is comig off and the stock foam and cover will be on the seat..just a preemptive to all the "man thats a god awefull seat" comments...LOL.

Fuse box is surprisingly very clean!! The PO back when had globs of duct tape and scotch locks everywhere. Theres nothing wrong with the harness now exept I had to resolder all the splices and get rid of about 8 scotch locks. Yeah i know the liquid electrical tape "looks" like theres melted spots, but there arent any.

Man that's one god awful seat.
The devil made me do it...honest:D

I don't know why...maybe I took the wrong painkillers for my headache earlier...but I'm kinda thinking I may want to actually use that seat...

I will save the foam and cover if your serious. But somehow I am reading a crap load of sacasm in there. I probably will have the rest disassembled this coming weekend. I was being sracastic in the title with the I am crazy part...im glad we worked out the deal Matt and got it here. Shes gonna be as sweet as number 1 for sure.

Actually, I really am thinking of putting together a 'rat bike' of sorts with my '79...and I think that seat may fit perfectly. Don't sh*t can it just yet ;)

Hahaha... that seat must've come off an L... I didn't even realize how hideous it was until everyone started poking fun.

Looks comfy though! :)

Chuck,
Seriously, that seats got to go!
I've seen alot of seats, some pretty damn ugly, but that is the most hideous, monstrous looking thing I've ever seen. I am laughing so hard tears are running from my eyes. You could stuff an elephant in that thing,
just think just how much weight the bike will drop when you remove it!
You could make a whole set of luggage out of it. There must be enough seat foam in it to make 20 normal seats! It took 10 cows to make it!
You could always use it as a floatation device for whole boat load of people, put an outboard motor on it and use it as a boat!
Enter it in the Guinness Record Books as the worlds ugliest seat!
I got it, it's one of those air mattress seats that someone put 100lbs to much air in it, you could try to pop it!
Get another person to help you when you remove it, so you don't hurt your back!

Now that that's out of the way... hahahaha.

Steve..Add an upright frontal pole and some old handlebars and ride it behind the ski boat at the lake!!! Theres an OEM pan and seat trim under all that...believe it or not!!!!!

Chuck you sure you did not buy that seat off of Crazy Carlos. Last time that seat was seen was in a box on the way to a dumpster.

Just saying is all.

Sorry Chuck, I just couldn't help myself, I'm still fighting back tears.
How in the world does that seat pan support all the weight? You even got a grab rail on it, all in all it's not a total loss, seat hinges, locks, trim and a grab rail are getting harder to find these days.

Steve..I dont have a clue as to how the PO got it all stuffed on there. There was an identical one on Ebat last week listed for a 1000..saddleman seat .
