DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

82GS650GL Fuel leaking from between carbs....

Hey all,

I was almost on the road until this.
Symptom:
The tank was full, Bike running, fuel pouring from between carbs. I can't see exactly where the leak is coming from and cannot fit my hand under it to feel around, even with the tank removed.

Observation:
-When tank was 90% emptied, little or no leak at all.
-When tank emptied, I did notice a "vacuum" type sound coming from the gas cap after stopping the motor.
-Everything else (in view) shows no obvious damage/misalign or disconnected lines.
-Bike hasnt run in a few months after being knocked over.

Question:
-Would this probably be the fuel line ?
-Do I have to remove the carbs to adjust/reconnect the fuel line?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Could be ripped line where it hooks to the fuel Tee. Could be stuck floats from when it was laid over. Take the tank off and hook an aux jug to the fuel line and see if the fuel line is cracked at the carbs. Also tap the bowls to see if it stops.

When the tank is off you can also see if the leak is coming from round the tee itself...oringhs seal the tee to the bodies and they do go bad now and then. no need to remove the carbs but taking the tank off gives you a clear view. Once youve identified just where the fuels coming from let us know.

Could also be leakingb up at the petcock connection and running down the line..then dripping off the tee...so check up there too.

The fact that it got 'knocked over' would have me suspecting float needle valves misaligned-

I was thinking "o" rings as well, or fuel coming from the over flow on top of the "T's" no vent hose.
