A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Chuck that caliper is so nice.So are the legs.Could not be happier, thank you to both of you!

Me and AZR were just PMing. I sent him 3-- 78 Gs 1000 side cover badges about 3 weeks or so ago and they hadnt arrived. I was telling him that you hadnt gotten the caliper yet and i hoped it didnt get lost also. Then i pop over and see that it has arrived. I am relieved now. It is all rebuilt. And as you can see it will just need the new dust boots and the to little orings on the carrier like i mentioned. Look at the parts fiches and youll see the two little orings and where they go.. Enjoy my friend.

Glad they arrived safely! and, I hope the contents of that yellow bag eases Rob's pain a bit.

Well this is a project coming together very nicely.Went over to Rob's(AZR) to get the MC Daniel (GS7981) gave to him at the rally and give him Dale's grab bar.He email me yesterday asking if I'd trade this

2011_07140004.jpg

The mufflers are bad
2011_07140005.jpg

Or at least the left one is,The right not bad
2011_07140007.jpg

But this is the part I need
2011_07140008.jpg

A good set of head pipes to put these on
2011_05170001.jpg

A set of Dunstalls I got with the 400's I bought over the winter.
Had a bit of a "O NO"when I opened up the MC to find
2011_07140003.jpg
it was attached with 1 screw and the one from the 78 was
2011_07140001.jpg

attached with 2.But I think this will be OK if not ideal.

After asking the GSR brain trust about carb dip up here in TGWN http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=178816 I found out I could get
2011_07220001.jpg

Needed something to put it in,found these at the local SA
2011_07210005.jpg

So I took the carbs apart
2011_07220004.jpg

The slides where so varnished I had to put penetrating oil on them to even move them:eek:
2011_07220005.jpg

Into the pot.The float bowl went in after I took the pic:rolleyes:
2011_07220006.jpg

And in went the 651.They said it smelled bad.Did not exagerate!!!

Had to get the frame in somewhere then I thought of this
2011_07280003.jpg

That worked out so
2011_07280004.jpg

I put my 79 400 frame on the other side.

This has floated up in my head. One colour I was thinking of doing Old Yeller is a light gold.Thinking that with a black stripe and accenting pins.Hmmmmm......Any thoughts?

Tired of the bright yellow already? Is this gold like the champage you where considering before?

No,I'm fine with the yellow of Old Yeller.Thinking possible Skunk variations.Probably stay black with white just thinking about other schemes.Yeah it'd be the champagne colour

Today Greg was busy taking the rubber of the rims. He got the front one off okay, but the back one was a real pain and is still on the rim. He even tried to cut it off and it still won't come off. He spent such a long time and of course got really frustrated. So he has put it in the back of my car and I will take into Victoria to the motor cycle shop and have them take it off. His good friend works there so it will be no problem! As to the subject of the color, I know that either the black or gold color will both look really nice! I am so happy that he has this to work on over the winter, if he didn't he would be very bored!

Yes I did. Some PO put a 130x18 Metzler on a 2.15x18 rim.The schrader valve broke off in the tube brass, had to Dremel it out.Bent my spoons trying to get this POS off.Cut it around the circumference and as close as I could get to the bead with a jigsaw. No go.Never had this much trouble before. At least there's a back up plan.
Could not do this without your encouragement and help my dear.So sad still that your 400 had to be sold, know you where looking forward to learning to ride.

So thanks to some members here this is coming together nicely.Got the carb o rings today from Mr.Barr.The tire will be off tomorrow and with luck I will get the wheels and Rustybronco legs stripped of paint.Set of SS allen's off eBay on the way to.Carb and engine kits.Lot's to do and all winter to do them.Think this will be a nice "tribute" Skunk.
