    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

... and it was my decision...

It seems many times the old fashioned way may be better than the new and improved. Looking good so far.

Imagine prepping a jumbo jet!
prep work is the key to a perfect finish show us the after when available.

What bike are you painting? Is it the one used as your avatar?

No... Because of the avatar pic I had a bunch of parts left over from a 77 GS750. Wasn't sure what I was going to do because importing a frame from outside of Florida costs way to much in licensing fees. Finally got lucky, found a Florida frame and built a 750.

Prior to painting.

This is the scoot in the avatar pic.

This list is as it sits in this pic - as of today 09.29.2023 its actually only the frame and engine right now. finishing the frame over the next few weeks now that the above 750 is getting done
77 GS750 frame - 08/77 - registered and insured in the state of Florida - in my name LOL.
78/9 GS1000 engine - stock as of now except for the Dyna pick up and coils. Carbs in this pic are Kawasaki VM 26's (1975 KZ900 still in the family - bored to an 1172 and fun)
2002 GSXR F&R suspension, brakes, wheels, clip ons,
1993 ZX11 gear sets
late model Bonneville seat pan - 1 off - guy built a test piece - I got lucky and found it.
The side covers are not going to be on this bike as I have a 1/2 piece of sheet aluminum (4mm ?) that I am going to make side covers and a rear number plate.
The gas tank is a 550/650 tank - came with this frame and the above 750 tins and will only be on it for "show." I am building a tank for racing.
I deal with calibration gas for sensors in our generators and the bottles are cool.
Trying to build this with as many OE parts as I can as I plan on visiting Beeville, Bonneville and pay a visit to the boys at the SDBA.
It's been fun and I have ridden it in this confirguration. Front wheel is happy and the real wheel spins uncontrolably for some unknown reason but I am diagnosing it
Busted the local speed limit with no issues - so far.
You won't believe how light it is...

Just a small update of what's to come. Yes, you can see the trees in the reflection...

I've seen and done rattlecan paint jobs, the end results are all about how much patience and effort you put into it

1st wet sand with both colors. Found a couple of blemishes that I've taken care of.
Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to finish this tank....

You don't realize how big it is until you're trying to wet sand with it in your lap... LOL

Purchased a 1977 GS750 in July 2019. 2nd weekend - it's running fair - on the way home after a 75 round trip it rips the cam cap off #1/2 exhaust cam.
Several other bike projects come and go and this finally gets a used head and other fun things...
