A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Was able to get out this weekend once I finished off a few things around the house. Have now put over 500 miles on the GS since I've gotten it running, so still fairly new to this bike... but I love it!!

I noticed I started this post 2600 post ago...I went looking back at the first one back in December 2011. In it I talk about meeting Glenn (Eddie21) and going for a ride. Then a couple of post later meeting Rob (AZR). I now consider these two guys as very close friends.:)
We have been on lots of rides together including many over night trips too. Heck Glenn and I just got back from a 9 day 6400km trip that included visiting 7 States. A couple of years ago we even went to a Transgender convention.:p Funny story.
Rob has helped me a million times keeping my GS bikes on the road.
In the winter we get together for regular Friday lunches.
All this thanks to GSR.:D
Ok back to pics....went out for a little spin after dinner...

Yes, this is a cool thread....and cool how you met Glenn and Rob.
By the way, did I see an old pic of your 1150 in this spot?

Thanks db...yeah I'm sure there are pics of it and the 88 slingshot I owned for a while. Funny this thread was started only 3 montha after me buying the 750...the first bike I have owned in over 25 years. It upsets me to think of all those riding years I missed out on but given the state of mind I was in for a lot of those years it's probably a good thing that I didn't have two wheels.:o

Ok - gotta ask dumb question.

I go for rides nearly EVERY day! But I can't for the life of me figure out how to post these full-size pics to the thread.

So, please help;)

Thanks,

Oh man...I'm as computer challenged as they come. I feel your pain.
I use photobucket. I download them to pb and then "right" click on the photo then click on "copy" then go to the site to post the pick by hitting "ctrl/v"
:)

A74R1, is that a GT seat on your little hot rod?

You've got it! Good eye. It's from a 1973 Suzuki GT185, which I think is perfect how it carries the chrome around to the back and has a fairly slim profile for the look I was going after. Oh and you can't go wrong with the Suzuki type on the back.

Today's plan was to ride out to Iron Pony in Columbus to buy a new riding jacket and then over to German Village for an early dinner at a Sausage Haus and German bakery we like. I don't like riding on the interstate so after some review of Google, I decided on what turned out to be some good back roads that would have made a typical 90 minute drive into almost 3 hrs. Charmayne also wanted to ride so we both donned our gear and set off.

She really enjoyed what time we got on the ride.

The wife and two of the other kids are in the Chevy:

Unfortunately, after about 75 miles Charmayne and the rest of the family had to leave me as the clutch went out on the bike and I waited for a rescue. The clutch cable itself is fine as I can hear the worm gear move when I pull the lever. However, the bike will move freely even if it's in gear (1st, 2nd, whatever) so I'll take off the sprocket cover in the AM and look at the pushrod.

This was taken yesterday...Rob and I went for a ride up Island and the place he wanted to take us for Lunch had recently burned down.
So we went to the Crow & Gate pub out in the middle of nowhere..busy traditional pub (hey Charlie, we gotta take you there). We sat out side...here is Rob enjoying a pint while we wait for our order...

Today a different kind of riding...my wife did her first ride ever on a dirt bike. We had a great time riding on a beautiful day!
I gotta tel what an amazing feeling it was riding with my wife and our son. I was grinning ear to ear all day!:)

Been working on the bike a lot, so the chances of seeing that pub are increasing. You lead a charmed life.:D

You are right about the "charmed life".:D Charlie, just so you know, if your bike is not ready between Rob and I we will have a bike for you to use.:)

Went to the store, but the real story was rolling the cycle out of the garage...I leaned it on a not fully deployed sidestand......as I walked away, I noticed the cycle moving slowly, about to fall. I quickly grabbed it by the passenger seat/grab rail and thankfully saved it.......

Man I tell ya....I just cleaned and lubed my side stand. I got tired of giving it a kick to put it out only to look down and its there in limbo...somewhere between in and out.
I had set her down a few just like you did......I would have dropped it eventually....so all lubed up now. :)
