DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bandit 1200 engine in a GS750 frame?

Spiff

Forum Mentor
If I have read correctly the few search results I found then this should fit?
Need to make new motor mounts but it fits?

The GS engine is longer than the Bandit, so you have to make a choice with placing the Bandit engine in the GS frame. You can either mount it to the rear of the frame (so the sprocket is closest to the swingarm pivot) which means you will need longer exhaust headers to clear the frame, or you can mount the engine closer to the front cradle - which means the chain will tension more with swingarm movement as it is further away from the pivot.

Just so you know ;)

Better off just buying a Bandit 1200 and enjoying a much better designed machine. That's what I did when I had my GS750. I also upgraded my 750 to an 1100 with the trusty 7/11 swap. Super fast and the 750 frame definitely twisted with that big block in it. You would spend allot more (time and money) to swap to the 1157 (bandit 1200) motor. The 1100 will nearly swap in (need to make 1 mount mod) but the headers and ignition are direct swaps, 1100 Carbs are easy to find where as the B-12's carbs are not so much.
my 2 pennies.

+1 on that
I love my Bandits they are some great bikes. If you like the GS's you will love the Bandits.

I know the 1000 and 1100 engines are a bolt on upgrade but they aren't available, believe me I've searched. And the bikes that do occasionally show up is too nice(and thus too expensive) to be parted out and usually they're shaft drive anyway so not usable for me.
There is one 1100 engine advertised for sale by a motorcycle shop, they want three times the money I'm getting this entire bandit for....
I'm in the process of bracing the frame and since it's winter, time is something I have alot of since I'm not riding :( And I also have a SV1000S for when the spring comes so I'm not in a hurry
