    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bicycling from CA. to MI. to pick up my 1982' GS450T then drive it back to CA.

For my first post here, I just have to say WOW! What a journey! Thank you Bill, for sharing your trip with us and thanks to all the great people who helped him along the way. Faith in Humanity restored. Also gives me faith that my 82 GS750TZ can and will be a great, reliable bike (once I finish sorting out the charging system).

Welcome to the GSR Rich-TZ. Sorting out your charging system is about as easy as it gets. Don't be afraid to read up on them or ask questions if you get in a spot of trouble.

I arrived ...........

Do tell us more of your adventure. Seems like each day could have multiple stories.

Sounds like you were stranded 2 or 3 times.

I gather that you camped out on side of road or reststops.

Tell us of all the folks that helped you in Detroit and along the way.

.

Great news Bill - I was pulling for you. I believe it was Jimmy Buffett that said - We do things for the stories we can tell. You now have some great stories.

Great to hear you made it Bill, those are the stories that your grandchildren will still be telling!

I enjoyed reading the post of your adventure. I had a 81 GS450L in High School and took that bike everywhere. I never dreamt of putting a trailer on it but it had a Vetter just like yours. Congrats on a bon adventure.

What a trip! Congratulations on making it back home" You could write a small novel on those adventures!

By any chance have you been approached yet by Hollywood for your story? I sense a movie in the not too distant future. ;)

Glad you completed the trip safely, and hats off to the GSR network for helping you along.

Definitely an intense trip.....

I'm finally completely rested up.
I want to speak with any of you great GSR members about my trip.
You folks are excellent people and I look forward to speaking to any of you and recounting all the different things I did on my trip. Thanks to all of you for being there. Bill
