I got shocks!!!

I got shocks!!!

To all of those that were patiently waiting I finally have an answer for you and hope that you have not spent all that tax refund cash already...

I have on hand only 8 shocks. If these sell out I can get more but you will have to advance order and production will not start until March 13. So, if you don't get in on the first 8, you will still have another shot. But don't PM me on the 12th of March and expect to get your order in on time for March 13th production. That won't happen.

I do have some requirements though...

First, you must CONTACT ME THROUGH PM ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SURE THAT YOU WANT, AND CAN PAY FOR, THE SHOCKS. Please keep in mind that the Sweeds seem to have thier own agenda and make these things more or less on whatever time they want to. So, with that in mind, you may place your order tomorrow and it could be 3 or 4 months before the shocks get to you (except for the 8 I have on hand). I have not failed anybody on an order ever, so I can say for certain that they will come but you may have to wait. This will not always be the case, but sometimes it might so you need to be prepared for that. YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL YOUR SHOCKS SHIP FROM NC. So, when you place your order, know that you have comitted the funds even though you have been charged for nothing. They will keep your info on hand and you will be charged as soon as they ship so the money needs to be available. Budget properly. Once you call Autumn and say you want them, it's a done deal. If you want to back out, PM me and I'll have to cancel everything, but I need to know as soon as you do. Again, this really applies to advance orders, not to those on hand. Those can ship as soon as they spring them for your specs.

There have been some problems shipping to Canada becuase of customs. If you are in Canada, the best way to get around this is to have the shocks shipped to a trusted source in the US (I can act as this source) and have them forward the shocks to you via USPS. Ohlins only ships UPS, so that is why you have to do it this way if you want to avoid customs overcharges.

Autumn is an accountant. She is a friend. And she is the one that I have arranged the deal with. That is the only part she has in this. IF YOU HAVE TECH QUESTIONS CALL THE TECH LINE AND TALK TO THEM BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER. When you are satisfied with the answers, you can PM me for the contact info and then call Autumn to get the deal. Tech is there for tech support, Autumn is there to get you a good deal via me. If you call her and don't mention me, you'll likely get transferred to sales and will be charged full price. With that in mind, also understand that Autumn does this on the side of her normal accounting duties, if she doesn't get back to you right away, it's because she's busy. Give her a few days and if you still don't hear from her try to call her again, you may leave a voice mail as well.

IF ANYBODY GETS RUDE WITH AUTUMN FOR ANY REASON YOU ARE OUT PERMANANTLY. I will not tolerate it any longer and I don't know how I can make it any clearer. If you have a problem with that, bring it up with me and I will be ever so happy to tell you to pound sand and then ban you from any future group buys that I have anything to do with. You have my word on that as a Marine.

Sorry for all the rules but they wouldn't be there if it weren't for a few bad apples. I stopped doing these group buys for a while because of them, and later felt bad about punishing everybody for the actions of the few, so that is why I'm giving it another go. But know this, if it happens again, I won't feel bad about it anymore. Fair enough?

Lastly, please keep in mind that I have arranged this and I will see it through. I have a list going and will send PM's out according to the order that you spoke up. I will continue down that list until I am out of shocks, or out of names. The list is continuous so you may put your name in via PM at any time and you may order as many shocks as you want, but remember, when you call Ohlins and tell Autumn you want them, you are committed. If you need to back out, I need to know and Autumn needs to know, but I need to know first because I'm the one that will call her - hopefully after I find a new home for them.

If you can agree to this, shoot me a PM and get on the list!!!

Oh, and one last thing just to clarify for those that didn't catch it earlier - these are brand new, with warranty, with support, and about half price. We are selling the SU143 only and the price is $450 plus shipping. There are no quantity discounts other than for shipping to the same location. The shocks are piggyback, stock length, stock mounts, and sprung to your specs. I can not make them longer, shorter, change the mounts, or tell you what color the springs will be other than to say they will be either black or yellow. You may tell Autumn your preference of spring color when you order, but some of the heavier springs are not available in black. This is one of those questions you should ask tech ahead of time if you want a specific color spring as they may be able to tell you what to order so that you get black. If it were me, I would put in a color preference with the order, and if it comes in some other color I would have it powdercoated to whatever color I wanted. This can usually be done locally pretty cheap, and you shocks will be set up right.

So that's it. If you want some brand new SU143's for $450 plus shipping, PM me and I'll send you the info in the order that I have the shocks. After that, it's up to you.

These are stock length and can not be ordered in any custom lengths. You may call the tech department and try to find another model shock that will meet your specs and then PM me with the number and I'll see if I can include it in the deal. Thanks for asking this question.
Sorry to rehash again, but i did a search on these and cant find any real info on length. Do you happen to know what the stock length is by chance? Thanks
TCK

According to Ohlins' catalog, these are 330mm long. That's 13-inches even.

Stock GS1000E shocks measure 13.4 inches (340mm) by my measurement, so you're losing some length with these and losing some steering quickness. Good for cruising, bad for racing. That's assuming your GS750 shocks are the same length.

I'll call Ohlins tech line and report back what I find out about length...

Well that shoots me out of the running for a set. I need a longer shock with this 1100 swingarm. At least 14 im thinking. I wouldnt mind it being a 'lil' lower than stock ride hight but thats too much. Sticking with the MDIs i suppose.

You could probably use stock CB900f shocks - PN HO140. They're 364mm long, about 14 inches.

Call Ohlins to make sure, and PM Long8viator, but they SHOULD work.

The bottom mount on the HO140's is a clevis rather than an eyelet. I have a deal going for these shocks as well but there is a line for them and I don't expect to be able to fill all the orders until after the March 13 production run. My advice to you would be to talk to the tech people and see if they can be of any help. I know they will be able to adjust spring rates, and they can tell you the type of mounts and lengths of the various models, so you'll at least have that much info which may be enough for you to make a decision - but I am quite certain they won't advise you to use HO140's for an SU143 application. Also, the bottom mounts are not changable, so if you need an eyelet bottom mount, the HO140 will not work as it is a clevis. However, if you can use a clevis mount it is entirely possible that the HO140 will work for you. I happen to have them on my CB900F and I am happy with them of course. I also know that some of the CB900/1100F guys run the GS1100 swingarm on thier F bikes, but I think they may have modified them to accept the CB shock. I run mine stock so I'm not sure.

This particular 1100 swinger is Eye to Clevis mount. So those would in fact be a match. If you've a list to wait on, put me down if you dont mind, I DO need a great set of shocks, Ohlins seems the way to go, and I dont mind waiting. The MDIs will do till after march, or whenever it may be. Ive spent a good deal of cash on this cafe project, and dont want to ruin it by having mediocure suspension. :)

The stock Suzuki GS shock (except shaft drive) is a bottom clevis, so the SU143 should have one too.

I have used the same S&W shocks on my old Honda as my GS for test fitting.

I'd definitely call Ohlins first to make sure there isn't a width or bolt diameter difference, but I've always understood Honda and Suzuki eye-clevis shocks to be interchangeable.

These 14.5 inch MDIs i picked up are actually designed for a CB900/1100 according to the manufacture specs. Not a problem at all with difference. Hopefully, if i can purchase a set of these Ohlins, they will be the same.

I have recieved multiple PM's about the SU145's. I do not think there are any left, but we may be able to get some from Sweden though it will take time. If you are willing to wait, I might be able to get them. The 145's are $800 a set and they differ from the 143's in that they have a hydraulic preload adjuster, compression adjuster on the reservoir, rebound adjuster, and adjustable shock length. The SU143 is a piggyback with preload only. The SU145 is a much better shock, but almost twice the price. If your budget allows it, I would go for it.

Okay, I have got quite a bit of response this time so I am going to do this a little differently. A few of you wanted more than one set, some as many as 8 sets (one set being a pair of shocks). I of course can not accomodate that at the moment so I would like to limit everyone on this first run to one set only. If anyone backs out I will make the additional sets available to those that wanted multiple sets. Also, as I said before I can probably get another run if the demand is high enough so try not to get too wound up about being limited to one set.

I have now made my email address public on my profile so if you click my name and then send email, you will see my address. Please send me an email and on the subject line place Ohlins SU143 (or if you want the SU145 or HO140, place that in the subject line) and then your last name. In the email place the amount of shocks you would like and again place the part number (i.e 1 SU145, 1 SU143, etc), your rider wieght, and the zip code where you want the shocks shipped to. Also include a phone number where you can be reached during normal business hours on the east coast. I will then forward these on to Autumn and she will contact you to confirm via email or phone.

I'm only doing it this way to make it easier for me since I have several of these buys going on at the moment and I do not want to leave anyone out. This also allows me to make a folder where I can keep the info until the orders are completed, and transfer the emails to a completed folder when they are filled. It's just easier to manage and I am doing it in a similar way that I do this sort of thing at work. By sending me an email I can incorporate one entire order with everybody on it into a single email sorted according to shock type and I think it will allow her to fill them quicker that way also. As for order of precedence, the people who resonded first will be at the top of the list and successive responders below in order.

Please do not under any circumstances send me your billing account info. I don't want it, and I don't even want it by accident. I want nothing at all to do with it. If you want to include the full billing address for shipping purposes, that's fine, but do not send me your payment info as I can't do anything with it anyway, that's Autumns job.

If anybody is uncomfortable with this arrangement you may PM me and I'll just pass the info on as I have done in the past, but I prefer to do it this way for it's superior organization and tracking merits.

Sorry, one last thing. If you ask for SU145's and they are not availble please indicate if you would be willng to purchase the SU143 instead. That way you won't lose your place in line if the SU145's are limited or not available at all.

The list goes out on Monday and there are 5 more sets to be spoken for if you want them.

Cafe, did you send me an email? I have more HO orders than SU orders and since I don't know everybody's name/screen name I can't alwas put them together. I want to make sure that I didn't leave you out.

No im sorry i didnt. I will do that imediately. Whats the cost of the HOs? Same as the 143s? thanks again :)

Yup, same price. They are essentially the same shock (36P), just different length and mounts.

Put me down for SU145's if available. If not, the SU143's will do. One pair for a 79 GS1000.

Crap...which is the best shock for my application?

1982 GS 1100e, 250lb rider, all street and occasionally twisties....occasional female on the back......
