A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

Call me crazy but I'm actually considering this bike.

ST1100
DL650
1050 Tiger
XVZ1300 Venture (stay away from the 1200's)
FJ1300
900/955 Sprint w/bags
Kawasaki Concourse.
All moderately priced, have bags, are fun, are indestructible and have a personality. Adventure bikes are very comfy if one has longer inseams.

Regarding the ST1100, I will also add that the ride is smooth and enjoyable. I added electronic cruise control to mine and it works well for me.

Will also add that the bike will handle the twisty roads as well as a lot of other bikes. It will take curves a lot faster than I have the courage to do them. That's because I don't have the opportunity to do twisties in Nebraska.

After following some other riders through the Ozarks for a couple of days, my chicken strips were nearly all gone. So it is a good "sport" touring bike. Just what Honda designed it to be.

The PC800 is too "scooterish" to me. The ST still looks like a motorcycle for the most part. Seen a few without the rear saddle bags and they look pretty clean.

Somebody should pick that one up and part it out. The parts are worth more then the whole bike in most cases. At $100 it's a no brainer.
Eh, it's just a headache, and you're starting with a tiny population of people that own these to begin with. It would probably take a lifetime to get rid 90% of the parts, aside from the most "sought after" pieces. There's no way you'd lose money of course, it's just dealing with all the eBay shenanigans too, it can be cumbersome.

For future refence.........oh, and I can't tell if it's the 700 or 1200 version. The 1200 would obviously be more "valuable".

Yeah, just because you can turn a "profit" on paper doesn't mean it's worth the time and aggravation.

Parting that bike out would be a piece of cake. Many Madura parts are next to impossible to obtain. There may not be many owners out there but they are HUNGARY for parts.

Want to sell your ST?;)

Not really. The problem would then be what to replace it with. I don't see anything out there that I would be better off with.

Bandit 1200's and FZ1000's are a couple of nice older bikes that can be had for cheap. There have been tons of nice older bikes, you just gotta find one that's been well cared for.

Here are a couple of more ST1100s which for $2300 are great values

1996

1998

If one had ABS I might be tempted but more inclined to R1100RT these days. Just an opinion

The big problem here is that the bikes are in the Denver area and I'm in the Atlanta GA area. All the good deals seem to be too far away. I'm looking at a 1998 ST1100 without ABS that has 61K miles on it for $1900. It's the one in post #64. It does come with the rear saddle bags. Called the owner yesterday and it's still available. Can't look at it until Weds. Hopefully it will still be there.

It will be there, like my Triumphs there not sought after and its Feb. There are many new bikes of any genre that are not highly sought after that are great bikes and a bargain to boot.
