I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dale, between watching this and the work you've done for Flyboy, I can see you're wonderfully meticulous. I love it.
Didn't get any painting done today. We had to get number three son's car and possessions off to the room he's renting for college.
Did get a chance to re-configure the paint 'boot' this afternoon.
Added in a door and a spot for an exhaust filter. I'm all tuckered out working in the 90? heat we had today.
It should make for a bit less dust infiltration than the blue plastic I had hanging over the door opening.

I'm liking this 'boot' even more now that it's sealed up properly. I didn't see any dirt in the primer. Might have a stab at doing the final clear right here at the house.

Even if it should get just a spec or two of dust in the final clear, it will be gone when you polish it out ...wouldnt it????
As long as the speck isn't too large, yes. A large piece of dirt or a hair could possibly ruin your day.

Very true!
I'm respraying my tank at the moment but don't have such a fancy spray booth so had my day ruined on two occasions so far...
Then rip a few '50x100's in half and purchase a roll of visqueen.

You should have no problem spraying the final clear in that booth Dale, i did all my painting in MUCH LESS favorable conditions and had no serious issues with dust or bugs, once the light orange peel was sanded out with 2000 grit the paint was like glass, If I say so myself.

Just maybe..and I am as leary as a cat crapping razor blades..I will try to paint my KZ 650B1 when things get to that point. I just dont understand mix ratios for the paint to hardener and all that other technical stuff. I am sure I can shoot it..but will it hold up to the occasional fuel droplet that splashes when fueling. Thats my biggest fear. Paint rolling off like butter on a hot piece of steel.
Stan, I painted many a complete in a garage with nary more than a wetted down floor. I'm just trying to make the odds of it coming out well as great as I can.
Started stripping the paint off a few sods this evening. Removed the stripes off the seat trim and tail piece. Filled in the gouges on the tail piece.
Tomorrow I'll sand the filler down and hit the battery box and license plate bracket with the epoxy I had left over from painting the fuel tank. (72 hour pot life)
Baking the the tank in the sunlight just because I could.
Stripping the sods.
I love rust free metal. So hard to come by around these parts.
Just in case someone wanted to know, Suzuki painted the tail piece and seat extension with single stage black then applied the decals. No clear was used on either piece.
Build a motor with roller bearings and cheap out on the paint. They didn't even use primer on the battery box. Just shot it black and called it good.

Glad to see you are getting the paint done quickly. Good humidity and temperate days will soon be at a premium in Michigan!!
I looked at weather dot com today and lets just say time isn't on my side. I just might have to burn a few vacation days in the next few weeks. If I can get all the painting done then I can start assembling everything when the weather starts turning cold. I'll probably scuff the tank and shoot some high build primer on it in the next few days. Then it's onto blocking the primer to make up for my poor dent repair skills.

Yeah...I kinda figured thats what was the plan. I am planning my trip up there for next spring. Am thinking either memorial day weekend or July 4th time. Also am trying to decide if I want to bring 2 bikes or just the skunk. Guess that will depend on what size trailer is available at the time.
More of the same tonight. Finished stripping and sanding the license plate bracket and the electrics panel then primed those and the battery box. Bought a sanding sponge and some rather cool wet or dry paper. Super flexible. Its supposed to last 15 times longer than normal paper backed sandpaper. I tried it out out on the fuel tank tonight. I'm rather liking it.

I've been blocking parts for several days now and have got the fuel tank in somewhat of a straight condition. I filled the dings and nicks in the plastic parts and block sanded those last night and again today. Reprimed the fuel tank once more and hit the plastics with epoxy as well. Mix up some black single stage and painted the battery box, electrics panel and licence plate bracket. I got a few fish eyes in the licence plate bracket from what I don't don't know. I did use wax and grease remover like I did on all the rest of the pieces. There wasn't any issues with the other two pieces. As this is the second time I've striped and repainted it I've decided it best to throw the darn thing out and buy a good one. (it pizzd me off!)

I had it when I shot my electrical plate, shot it twice with the same result, called it quits and shot it the next weekend an it was fine.
Strange that it never affected the other two parts though.

The only things that could have caused it would have been either oil or silicone contamination in my minds eye. Kind of got me a bit unsetteled after having used that engine paint that contained silicone. I think I'll scuff up a piece of sheet aluminum and base clear it before getting to much further into this project.
Tomorrow it's onto primer surfacer and more blocking. Was hoping to get it base cleared on Wednesday. Looking iffy at this point.
Found this while perusing the Cooley offered for sale on Ebay.
