A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

Did something i swore years ago, that i would never do.....

Bought an '88 gl1500. And i think i'm in love..... Oh, my son has already stolen my 850.

Congrats on the new purchase. I've been telling my son I'll teach him to ride my 850 this summer as he is 20 now. I can see your scenario playing out in our lives down the road someday. May not get such a big bike like that, but an ST or something.

Any pics of the new (to you) gl?

Sometime within the last 10-15 years I became enamoured of the idea of a naked GL1500...

kind of like this nice example:

Or, if you don't mind some body work on it. :-\\\
The Valkyries were expensive new, and they still are. Around here 6-7k, year doesn't seem to matter much. Think they went from 96-7 to 03-04? They are pretty quick for a tank.

Was contemplating picking up a GL1500 but decided to go with a little sportier version Honda touring bike, the ST1100.:

The best way to describe it is a sports car on two wheels right down to the V-4 engine. Even the air filter, oil filter, and thermostat are honda car items. The picture doesn't show the matching luggage.

Maybe my next bike will be the GL.;) Post some pics of yours.

Congrats on the new {to you} toy. Ride her for now...contemplate "cafe" later...

That is pure unadulterated bike porn right there. That thing is sweeeeeeettttt.

Ive never sworn that I will not own a bike of that nature. I just say im not ready for one yet. Enjoy!

Well...if the cafe is the route to go here....I'd suggest USD forks {every bodys doing it} and make both the exhaust tips "spin", gatling style.

And Steve, that is just plain butt ugly----IMHO. Just my .02

Larry, I am not a big fan of that style, either, but I saved that picture some time ago when someone was talking about Wings being stodgy old land yachts.

This one is definitely on the other side of the coin. :encouragement:
.

And still no pics of the "new" wing?

I've been a bit busy lately, will get to that soon. When i do, I'll post up pics of the 750 too, now that i've finally gotten the '88 short stroke motor in it.....
