A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Disband the pipes and pods effort?

In late 83 I took off the black pipes and airbox and did pods and 4to1. A Yosh at that time. Now at 67yo I?m thinking about going back to original. Strictly because of noise. I wear earplugs now and it helps some. So here?s my dilemma, I figure out a way to quiet down the Vance and Hines and pods a lot without upsetting the carbs, or go back to my black pipes and airbox for which I can?t find the original jetting numbers for. The easiest thing to do would be rewrap the exhaust core but I?m not sure it would quiet it down that much. The pods seem to make more noise than the pipes. I?ve already scared the heck outta my self with the power zillions of times so that?s not the issue any more. Ideas?

I know there's a spreadsheet floating around here somewhere that lists every GS, their Carb models, and their stock jettings. Or, if you list your specific bike info: Year and model, someone who knows may post the answer. Consider putting the bike year and model in your signature. Then you'll never forget to post it, and no one will have to ask.

Take a look at the parts fische, for my bike the original sizes are listed.

Personally I wear earplugs because of the windnoise not the exhaust / intake noise.
Back in the day, I did find that the short exhaust like the V&H did make for more noise in the helmet VS my current Yoshi that has a much longer can that runs to the back of the bike.

I would think that finding stock jetting #s shouldn't be that difficult.

I know after you've restored the intake system to OEM, you see better mileage.
You can find a Db reducer insert/baffle for your can on ebay, repack the can or buy a new muffler.

Wind noise is a lot of it and somewhere online recently I saw a product that is some sort of noise reducing filler between your helmet and body. I?ll look that up today.
