Alright I am at a loss as to how to get my engine mounting bolt out. apparently it has rusted/fused with the engine spacer pictured here.

When I unscerw the bolt the whole assy freewheels. I have tried tapping the bolt through from the other side to no avail. I have tried tapping on the spacer to try to break it loose. I even tried to get a flathead between the frame and the spacer to work it out but couldn't get the driver in.

any ideas?

Penetrating oil and time for starters. Sounds like the bolt is a bit swollen with rust - I've had luck fabricating press or puller contraptions from old bolts and steel plates that I keep around the garage. They always work better than a hammer and punch.

thanks tom, i have been spraying it with pb blaster which usually loosens up my stuck items pretty well, I will have to look into rigging up some sort of press

Hmmm... I had no dramas at all with that one... bigger hammer maybe? Hit it from both sides though...

If a first you don't succeed, get a Sawzall... I had to do that once, even after it was cut out of the bike it wouldn't come apart.
Some things just should have been greased.

believe me it had crossed my mind but even with that option there is no space between the frame/ bolt head and the spacer. I could cut the engine out but would still be stuck with the remains of the bolt and that F***ing spacer.

I cut right through the middle of the spacer and bolt, it fell right out.

I'd say use a bigger hammer... lol Its not fun cutting bolts out, i recently had to drill one out of an outboard engine what a PITA that was.

success!!
and here is what happened, I put the battery for my saw on the charger and resigned to myself to my fate. in the meantime went to try and bash and twist it some more. twisting it was freewheeling and since the damn thing was round I coud not grip it.

 if i could flatten the bastard i could grip it with an adjusti wrench and maybe break it free. out comes the dreml and wouldn't you know it actually worked. so if you find yourself in a similar situation there is a new option on the table.

score for the day stands at me=1, murphy=still winning by a lot
