A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

What front end could I put on a 79 gs550e? I recently put a 85 ninja rear on and would like to put on a smaller front tire. Is there a smaller tire that bolts in, I bought a 16 inch gs1150 tire but it will not fit inbeetween the stock forks (without spacers it is to big.).

i have heard you can go with some inverted forks from a 600. most suzuki front ends will just bolt up to other suzuki frames. so all you really need to do is find a front end with the hieght you want, probly a 600 front end.

tell me more about the rear swing converstion, are you running a mono shock or is it dual shock. do you have any pictures?

I'm guessing you have a single disc up front, forks are wider for dual disks YOU have loads of options. Easiest would be a later dual disk front end or at least the tripple trees If you have the money complete GSXR 600 front end is possible I understand the inverted can be used with MAJOR modifications

So if I get a front end, I would need the whole front, trees, forks, calipers? what triple trees could I get, where I could still use my forks?
I dont have a digital camera, but the 85 zx600r ninja tire went right on in less then one hour. All I had to do was cut a little bit of metal at the u of the swing arm, there was extra metal there. then I took the guard of of the brake line and just bent the mount to hold it in place. I took the caliper brake bar off and bolted to the right outside instead of the middle of the bracket (until I get a chance to bend it and put it back in the middle) I used everything from the stock ninja tire except for the right side washer. on the ninja tire thier is a washer that is held to the rim inside of a hard plastic circle. I just pulled the plastic out and put the stock gs550 washer in. I got the whole rear tire and axle on ebay for 40 dollars including shipping. that included a tire, rim, axle, washers, caliper, sprocket. It looks a lot like the katana tire swaps in the forum from behind. a wider tire looks nicer but it isn't as sharp turning. I'm not going to be raceing around corners so I like it. Hopefully I'll get some pics up in a month or so. I also put clubman bars on it. going for a streetfighter look.

and it is not a mono conversion yet, but gonna try one this winter, or I might put 16" shocks on to raise. any opinions.
