A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All,

I have just got to the brakes on my GS1000g Project and had a few problems with bleed nipples siezed etc. so after buying a new caliper and tapping the other i put new pads in. I bled the back brake fine.

The front brakes have never had any fluid in them when I got the bike and the brake lever didnt have anything.. no resistance but I put this down to their being no fluid in it.

I have put some fulid in it, but the brake just doesn't pump anything. I have a feeling that the brake master cyclinder may be goosed.

I'm not sure how to check as it seems sealed. Does the brake lever push some sort of piston within the master cylinder? I can see a pad that looks like it would do this, and tried to push it with a screw driver but its' going no where.

Also their are two wires on the bottom...anyone know what these are for ?

Is it a case I need to buy another one? does anyone know if any other gs models may fit .. just so I have more to search for.

Any help much appreciated on this money pit project!

You are taking a risk by using 30 year old brake parts that have not been stripped down for cleaning and inspection. That said, often times the system will start pumping as soon as you prime it. Drawing a vacuum on one of the caliper nipples, to pull fluid out of the reservoir and into the master cylinder bore, typically primes the system and starts it pumping assuming the master is not all gunked up.

Lastly, please watch where you post your threads. We have a brake forum which is the appropriate place for threads like this.

Good luck.

Hi,

I found this on some guy's website. It might help. You can also search the forum for brake bleeding tips.
