A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Looking for a new fuel level sender. I picked up a project bike late last fall and now that it's warming up enough to spend real time in the garage I've started working on it a little more. The previous owner garaged the bike for nearly 20 years with zero storage prep. I emptied the tank today to see what would come out and it wasn't pretty. Good-ish news is that lightly scraping around in the tank made it seem that what remained was mostly fuel sludge. I'll write more about the rust removal process in a different post. However, the 20 years in a bad fuel mixture did a number on the fuel level send unit. The insulation around the hot wire has completely broken down and is chunking off. I am fine replacing the unit in the tank, leaving the wires unplugged and wrapped and continuing with the restore process, but I'd like to replace it eventually. Does anyone know where to find one off the top of their head? I'd like to buy from a forum member if you've got one you'd like to offload. Thought that I'd throw it out there before purchasing from a retailer.

Welcome. Don?t have one for you but I see you have an Imgur account. You can follow the link in my signature to learn how to post up to 10 images in a post so the pics show up in the post rather than a link.

Welcome. I dont know that anyone would just have a good one sitting around, but there are several that look to be in good condition on ebay for $15-$30. There even appears to be a NOS one for $70 (only going off of google shopping images, cant access ebay at work). I would personally buy the cheapest one I could find on ebay, and then verify function; if it doesnt work correctly, there is a tutorial on http://gsarchive.bwringer.com/ on how to repair it.

Thank you for doing the eBay legwork for me. Figured I'd first check if I could help a forum member out by buying from them. eBay seems the most likely route all things considered. I'll check out that rebuild guide and see if there's any hope for the one I've got. Thanks for the responses!
