I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi everyone,

I've decided I'm tired of waiting for 2 weeks and paying 2-5$ plus shipping for bolts.

I need the proper bolt to hold my gas tank onto my 1979 Suzuki gs850g.

The Suzuki OEM part is 01500-03307.

Does anyone know the proper specs (length, size, threads) for this bolt?

The one my bike came with was placed on by a P.O. and was just a standard random US bolt with a rusty washer and a generic rubber gasket on it.

I'm hoping to be able to just swing by a hardware store and pay 1-2$ for the bolt.

Thanks

sean

If it was a standard bolt likely the thread is ruined. There is a spacer with two very specific rubber washers in there, you might want to actually order the OEM one for this, or put a wanted ad up on the site.

I already purchased the washers, standoff, but I forgot to order the bolt itself.

I was going to say that the bolt size is usually encoded in the part number, but your number did not look right. :-k

I looked it up, and sure enough, there is one wrong digit in what you typed. It is 01500-08307.
Look just after the hyphen, you will see that it is an M8 bolt that is 30mm long.

.

Is that how all the bolt part numbers are done? I've always wondered how to tell the bolt size.

Nearly always most of the time. Not quite a 100% but nearly almost every one.
