A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have rebuilt and rejetted the carbs, new fuel lines and new petcock. The valves are right according to the book, compression is good. The coils are producing spark and I still can't get any power. I am running lean. The bike just runs out of fuel at around 3500 rpms, I can get a little more power by pulling the choke but not much. My xs11 was a lot easier to get right on the fuel mix. Anybody got any ideas, I am almost ready to take it to the shop;):confused:

What are you using for an air box? How about the exhaust? What size jets did you put in?

The box was melted so I went with pods, hence the rejet. And the exhaust seems to be flowing freely. At idle and when it is not under a load the bike revs freely up to about 5000 rpms, then develops a lean profile. once I put it in gear its runs out of fuel around 3500rpms. It just ain't getting enough gas. I have even put an oversized fuel line sans filter to attempt to send more gas to the carbs.

Maybe you need bigger jets, maybe you need to raise the needles or use a better profile needle... probably some of both. How much bigger than stock main jets did you use?
It takes a lot of testing and a lot of thinking to get it right. Especially if you used those cheep ass Emgo pods.

Stage 3 dynojet kit. and emgo pods. I may go ahead and order some k&n's also. It is terrible, ridculously lean. Never had this much trouble getting a fuel mix right.

With pods and STOCK exhaust, try 120 or 122.5 mains and adjust the fuel screws.
That should get you much closer.
My '80 850, at 4,500 feet and up, just needed 117.5's to be happy. ;)

I will try 120's and see if that gets me closer. It has to something minor every thing else is tight and right.
