A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rebuilt the forks, ran the wiring harness

One fork tube was gouged pretty bad, filled with JB weld and sanded. Had to replace lower bushing also. We'll see how that holds up.

Wiring is not my strongpoint but trying my best to make it clean...

Takes a lot of patience!!

threw on the body for fun. Have some NOS side covers for it too.

So what's the skinny on running a gsxr 1100 rear wheel with the 1100e swinger as far as brakes? I see guys running an underslung rear caliper? Is this necessary? Or is that for bandit swingers? What's needed for the stock swinger/caliper setup?

Directions use to be in Katman's Major 1100 Kat Rebuild thread circa 2004 but his post no longer support pictures or the drawings. His solution for getting the rear brake pedal to operate the master cylinder in tight confines might not be applicable to your set up with your rear sets. He basically modified the brake lever pivot rod between the swinger and the frame so it was offset.

Rear sets from other bikes like the ZX12 can be swapped along with their integral master cylinder. I followed his lead and it was very tight still and I eventually moved on to his bandit arm solution.

Thanks isleoman.

You happen to know if the 1100e caliper and mount works with the gsxr wheel/rotor?

My wheels are at the powdercoater otherwise I'd look myself. Trying to prepare. For some reason I thought the caiiper didn't line up well.

Your bike is is a big inspiration for me.

Thank you. Lots of good info there.

He says the gs rotor/caliper/hanger won't work. But doesn't say what does work?

Am I going to need a gsxr caliper/hanger?

Thanks.

i believe I have a gsxr caliper, not sure about a hanger though. I'll have to do some digging.

Got a set of thin stainless hose clamps for the carb boots. Waiting on wheels from powdercoater.

This build is SLOW going.

But i just ordered some tires. Next step is getting them mounted and see about machining sprocket hub for proper chain alignment.
