A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Howdy everyone, would anyone know where a fella would be able to get a master cylinder for a 1980 GS400? Mine really is at a stage where the res, rubber insert and cap all need to be replaced and I am not scoring any goals finding anything
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Greetings and Salutations!!

Hi Mr. thecount,

You may find a rebuild kit at one of the OEM or aftermarket online vendors. Anyway, let me share the love. :)

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

GS400 Master Cylinder

Howdy there BassCliff

Thanks for the welcome. need a pic well here one is. Had the wee bike for about 20 years and it has been laid up in a shed for about the last 12 (not even started, till a few months ago and was thrown into a instant 800 kilometre ride to a new home), thus the un compliant master cylinder.

Found a new parts finder service here in Aus so hopefully onto a lead or two.

Cheers

Gav

Hi,

What a nice looking bike!

There are a few GS members "down under" (Suzuki_Don? Zooks?) who might be able to help you source some parts. I know shipping from the States can be unreasonable.

Click on the "UserCP" link in the upper left corner of the page and update your location and other information if you like. There may be another member not too far away.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Good stuff Gav and welcome! Where in Aus you hiding? There's quite a few of us around here from all over the shop.

Anyways, I haven't looked yet but I'll also be needing a master cylinder for my 450 once I get towards finishing the rebuild, and my intention was to go scour the local bike wreckers.

Let us know how you go, always good to see another GS getting back up and running!

Wow, I am really liking that 400. That looks to be an excellent ride for the Mrs first bike.
