GSXR upgrade? Not technical:)

This is already posted in general discussion, but I wanted to get as many opinions as possible.
I've been looking for a complete front end for my gs1100e, and I have found them ranging from approximately $500.00 to $850.00. One of the $500.00 units I know more about than the others as far as history and such, and had planned on getting it. Well then I found another complete set, but the cheapest I can get them down to is $1600.00 8O 8O :twisted:




- 1994 GSXR-750 inverted, fully adjustable forks

- Forks freshly worked by Max McAllister at Traxxion Dynamics

- Triples, calipers, master cylinder, steel braided lines, clipons, front
fender

- Spare wheel w/EBC Pro-Lite rotors and EBC HH Pads

- Braking wave rotors w/Braking Carbon Metallic CM66 pads

- Powder coated, white wheel

- Ceramic wheel bearings

- New rotor disc bolts

- Spare set of bearings

- Braking hardware and ceramic bearings are virtually brand new



No matter which setup I buy I already planned on having the forks rebuilt by either Traxxion Dynamics or race-tech, but at a later time. The current owner's weight is approximately the same as mine so they won't have to be rebuilt again. I will just have to adjust them to my bike. Most of the parts have seen a full season of hard racing, but the wave rotors and Cm66 pads have only seen one weekiend. All of the parts have been maintained in great shape.

So what do you think? I can sell any parts I decide not to use, or keep them for spares. Also, I can afford it, but is it really worth it? Especially when it will slow up the other work I want to do on my bike.

Probably not. The cost difference between the sets is not covered by the extra parts you could sell. It depends how important the TD fork work is, as that is about a $500 touch. At that rate, it is close to break even with the extra parts to sell. Sweet set up, though.

If it means the bike stays off the road longer, I would skip the expensive set and go cheaper to keep it on the road and then upgrade the forks over winter. It's not like they would be awful as they sit. No matter what, they will be a serious improvement over the GS pieces. Our riding season here is so short (western Canada) that I take care to have nothing major lined up in summer to avoid missing any good days. All the big stuff is done over winter when I am stuck anyways.

but is it really worth it? - only you can answer that, but how much is the 1100 worth now & how much will it be worth after fitting front end?

Thanks for the input. By slow up the work I meant it would slow it up financially.
