I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have an 83' GS 450. I recently decided to change out the headlight with an H4 replacement light. I ordered it from Dennis Kirk and when i went to swap it, it was too big. It seems that my headlight isnt a 7" light as its labeled in Dennis Kirk.

Right now i have a headlight bucket on my bike from a 76 CBR 750 but its too shallow. I need the extra depth that i had with the old bucket but i cant seem to find one. Does any of the bigger GS models have a 7" headlight bucket that is as deep as my original?

Id like to pick one up on ebay if the bigger bikes have the 7" bucket that i need.

Thanks

That's right, you have to get a bucket AND LENS replacement for the 450 if you want to go H4. I got one off a 650 and transplanted it. You should probably do something similar.

And I think Dennis Kirk will accept a return on the thing you bought. They're supposed to be good about that.

I've got one of these headlight buckets from CRC2 on my bike:
http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/head_and_tail.htm
(The first item on the page.)

It's real metal with real chrome (not plastic) and it's not all rusty and nasty and incomplete (not a used eBay part). Well worth the $60.

There's plenty of depth for that %$#@! rat's nest of wires -- more than most stock GS headlight buckets, although it still took me a little while to get everything safely tucked away.

CRC2 is highly recommended by many forum members.

Thanks for the info.

Ill see if i can find a bucket and trim ring from a 650.

Its too late to return the light to dennis kirk. Unfortunately, when my regulator went out it burned out my only headlight. Thats why i ordered the H4 as a replacement. Because i was in a bind i stuck the H4 in an old bucket that happened to work out. (although it isnt deep enough, i have a few wired heavily loomed and pushed just outside the bucket)

As of right now the bike has a fair amount of rust on it, so a bucket and trim ring off ebay with lite rust will blend in :( I plan on tearing the bike down in late fall. Id like to repaint it and clean everything up.

Thanks for the link to the chrome headlight assembly. Depending on what i do in the fall i may be intrested in picking one up.

Hmmm.....The H4 (with some tin trimming around the holder) fits right in my 80 450E. And it has the same original bucket (as far as I can tell) as our 450S of the same year.
