A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Back in 1995 I needed a set of mufflers for a Honda 400 so I ran an ad on the bulletin board where I work looking for parts and people took the ad as if I was a buyer of parts bikes and I got a lot of phone calls. One guy called and said he had a 82 Suzuki 850 I could have if I came and got it as it had been wrecked. I got there and it looked rough in the front, gauges smashed, tank crushed on one side, handlebars wrapped down to the forks. I didn't really want to even haul it home but I did.

A few days later at home I looked it over and seen it was shaft driven, picked the speedo out of a parts box and seen it only had 6000 miles on it and I noticed how nice the chrome and rest of the bike was so I threw on some jumper cables and put some fresh gas in the tank and it fired right up.

It sat in wrecked condition in my basement for a while until the day before I was to take my drivers test. I planned to use the Honda 400 but it dawned on me they probably wouldn't let me since the mufflers were a bit loud. So I was up untill about 4am piecing the 850 together. By morning I had rigged on a set of gauges from a Kawasaki 440 had handlebars on it and was all set to go except for the horn button was broke and the clutch lever. I registered the bike in the morning, went to Napa and got a push button I rigged on the handlebars for the horn and was down to the clutch lever. I went to a local bike repair shop that morning about an hour before the test and he didn't have the handle on hand but he had just sold a bike that they were not coming to pick up for a couple days so he took off the handle and let me use it for my test long as I brought it back. So I did and passed my test.

About 6 years ago I ordered a tank from a junkyard and when it came it was not the same as my L tank, they sent me a G but I kept it anyway.

This year with gas going so high I decided I was going to fix it up more so I ran an ad on Craigslist looking for parts bikes and I found a 82 gs850 G for $100.00. and I ended up taking it home for $35 and it came with the vetter fairing you see on my bike now. I put the proper gauges back on, had my tank and side covers painted and cleaned up the chrome so this is what she looks like now.

If you need more parts for your bike let me or saddlewarmer know. My 82 852L came with a parts bike. We took the parts off that we thought we needed and scrapped the rest. We may have what you might be looking for.
