A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Must have lost my mind, temporarily I hope!

Cannot believe that I just agreed to buy another old bike. This one is a 1980 Honda CB750K with 19K on the speedo. Runs rough but has a new rectifier and battery. Cosmetically it is in fair condition. I guess now I have a winter project! Will post pics when I get it home this weekend. At least it has all the major parts. Anything that these old Hondas need checked out that other brands do not?

Charging issues ( if not due to R/R issues ) will most likely be the rotor windings which are under the right side cover. Check wear marks on the brushes too. If the rotor is the issue once you OHM it out get ahold of Custom Rewind in Birmingham Alabama. Kirk did one for me and it was back within a week.

Thanks for the info! The bike is "supposed" to have a new rectifier and has a new battery.....we will see when I pick it up tomorrow. I know that the pods are coming off and the stock airbox is going back on. The PO said he recently added the pods but did not change anything in the carbs??? Needs some work on the header (paint) and has a valve cover gasket leak, which will be replaced when the valves are adjusted anyway. As with any old "new" bike, I've got a long list of things to check before even attempting to get it out for a test ride! At least the price was right. Hopefully I will get it home with enough light to take some pictures to post.

Thanks again for the info!

Finally got the winter project home. Here is a pic.IMG_0117.jpg

Still cannot figure out why my pictures are always upside-down or sideways!!!!

Looks like a good starting point, those are fetching good money these days.

Gotta de-rust the tank and then get her running good. The PO did not know anything about bikes and inherited it, so I got a deal...….I hope! Probably just gonna flip it, but who knows....4 bikes is not too many is it?

Got the tank cleaned out today. Did a quick clean of the carbs, removing lots of rust! Cleaned the petcock. Put it all back together with an inline filter, just in case! Put the battery in it and...?.."IT''S ALIVE"! Started right up and idled a little high but so far it looks like a deal! What I thought was a valve cover leak looks to be a tach cable leak. Got a couple days off work so I'm hopeful that I can get some more done to it. Going to get some of the ugly off it tomorrow. Anybody need some rusted crash bars? What about rusted highway pegs?

It has a black Mac 4 into1 that needs some paint badly! My GS has the original exhaust so I will not be swapping those! Have to get the crash bar brackets(homemade) off, the airbox installed, and it needs a right rear turn signal bracket and a choke cable, then it will be back into almost stock form.
