Not much picture worthy, running electrial and cleaning connections. Personal goal is to light the fire under this thing this weekend. Then sort out any bugs I find. Still need a tail light and fininsh the seat and some smaller stuff. But it is still a high goal ... but ACHIEVABLE!

And very cool if you can do it :)

how is this coming out? really looking fwd too see those cool parts on the bike!

Well I got good news! :)
When I got home from work, I rigged up a small gas tank out of a plastic bottle, hose, and a fuel filter. Gave everything a final check, topped off the oil, pulled the choke and hit the starter.
After a couple seconds of cranking she fired up! Idle speed was way too high so I pushed in the choke at lightening speed and she shut right off. (whew!)
Turned the idle speed screw down and tried again. This time it started and she went into a nice fast idle, pushed in the choke and it settled right in. Checked all four pipes were warm and shut her down.
I knew she would smoke on the first start and I wasn't disappointed. But what surprise me is how quiet the SuperTrapp is! Granted it can always get more disks installed but It's got 4 out of possible 6 in it now. Little backpressure shouldn't hurt right?
Rechecked for leaks and all was well. So I let the pipes get cool since I wanted to properly cure the paint on the headers. Then came the 2nd time. She only needed partial choke while cranking and came to life again. Now I let it set and idle, exhaust cleared to where it only "puffed" when revved. Nothing drastic, short bursts to maybe 2500-3000 RPM, no hesitation, very responsive and returns to idle right away... SWEET! Pipes a little hotter this time.
Took a break, grabbed the camcorder and headed back out to make a short video. Once the pipes were cooled again I started her up on film, made a short video then shut her down. Nice idle, no smoke, I had an error when finalizing and can't read mini-disks on this computer so I won't know until I get to work Monday if the video is any good or not.
Worst case, do it again!
LIFE IS GOOD!

Congrats! As you well know, it's a good feeling when you bring one out of hibernation.

Thanks all, it is apperciated!

Yeah, I went back out this morning and verified 4. I think I may pick up another pack of discs to give me some tuning ability, then I will need to play with the jetting. Ahhh fun stuff right there. I can probably get her close by the "Seat of my pants" and plug chops but I am running out of riding season. Considering I need to finish the seat and ALL my lighting still needs purchased. The snow will be flying by then.
There is a independant performance shop close that has a dyno. Once everything else is finished I may take it over there this winter with discs and jet assortment in hand and do some playing. Problem is he is only open weekdays until 5:00 so I would need to take a day off work.
That is IF he is willing to let me tie up his dyno for a day doing numerous pulls to get her dialed in. I don't know if he charges by the hour or by the pull, or if me doing the labor is even an option... May be better taking it to him and saying "call me when it's done" but that's NOT how I roll!
HAH! I am getting WAY ahead of myself, that's a looooong way off :o

Mate that is good news!!!! Love that feeling when she first fires into life... can't wait to get mine fired up again now I have good intake boots and stuff.

Definitely looking forward to the video :D

Here is a better pic of the rear of the SuperTrapp, I did some more searching to find some info here and seems others have had good results with 6-8 discs, one even up to 12. I can get another 6 discs off Motorcycle-Superstore for $21 so I see yet another item I will be buying.

On another note, today was one of the few nice days left I am afraid, so in order to celebrate I took a hint from all you guys doing the clean-ups and I pushed them all outside and swept the shop.
Heres the 3 Amigos in my sig...

Here is the project in her current state of readiness, can't believe the dust you can see out in the sun!

Once the shop was presentable again, back inside she went... but I fired up the 'oldWing and went for a ride, hope she isn't going to start getting jealous! ;)

Mate that's a nice stable of bikes you got there :D

And yeah, definitely lovin' that paint job on the GS! Looks even better in the sun :D

But where are the pic's of the clean workshop? How can I possibly believe you cleaned it without pic's for proof? :p

LOL!
Ok, I got the loose stuff picked up off the floor and some of the work bench space then swept the open area... more believable?
Thanks for the props Pete

Hahahaha fair enough... and here I was thinking you'd done a proper clean and tidy ;)

Oh, and I forgot to ask, what's the deal with the discs in the supertrap? Do they make it more restrictive or something?

thats a nice stable!

I really like how the paint job makes it stand out...the paint just shines in the sun....

I really like lil sister too....

nice work...

Actually just the opposite. Think of the disks as "open spacers" the more disks you put in the more opening there is for the exhaust gasses to excape.
Less disks = quieter, more back pressure, better low end torque
More disks= louder, less backpressure, better high end horsepower

With only 4 in mine it seems too restricted and that will also lead to it running rich. I found some disks on e-bay and straight from Suppertrapp themselves so I WILL be getting more in the near future.

Thanks for the compliments drivera84,really means a lot to me. You know Lil Sister is for sale... too bad the shipping to Honduras would be OUTRAGIOUS! :(

OK first Video was a bust so I made another short one tonight. Should be able to up load tomorrow. Amazing how I can tear a bike into a hundred pieces and put it back together but this damn camcorder always eludes me.
