A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well i just bought my second gs, its a 1982 gs1100g. its completely stock. i think i want to put a louder exhaust on it. I'm looking for some input on a good set to buy and I'm gonna assume that new pipes are going to mean ill need new jets too. so any advice about that would be great. Thank you in advance.

You will also reduce the performance of the bike. You will have a louder bike a probably a less tractable engine. I know plenty of 1100G riders who would be happy to have the mufflers.

Sorry for the bad news. I just returned my 1000G to standard mufflers and am amazed at the improvement.

Let me know if you want to get rid of those stock pipes. If they're in usable shape I can give you some $$$ toward a new set.;)

Your options are limited on available pipes. My recommendation for a pipe that's a little louder, wont break the bank and is decent quality is the Vance and Hines 4 into 1. There are others on the market but I would stay away from anything from MAC. So far the quality report is poor and the sound is less then desirable.

Go to the link at the bottom of my signature and you're get a Mega Welcome to the site with a ton of information.

Thanks for the welcoming. I should have some pics of the bike soon its in decent shape. Johno, what exhaust did you take off the bike and was the carb tuned for that.

You may be able to achieve better performance than I did. I fitted a locally manufactured O'Brien pipe. I'm sure the Vance and Hines headers are probably superior. However as you have indicated the jetting needs to be appropriately adjusted as well as the intake to gain maximum advantage.

You really need the resources of Vance & Hines, Suzuki or Yoshimura to get the best out of any set up.

that is why i went back to OEM mufflers.

Whatever way you go as long as you are happy with the result is good.

Good luck with your build.
