It seems Katman's view on the world and his morals are different than those of the rest of the group which make up the norm of what is "acceptable" and normal on this forum so personally I think Katman needs to adjust or look away like in real life when he sees something he doesn't like.

I also think there have been some miscommunications between some people which made it worse.

I also think in hindsight Frank made a wrong decision by removing the avatar seeing what has happened because of it.

I very much wonder what Frank's view on this is now.

I also think Katman has a very nice project topic and is very knowledgable and helpfull to others in those matters, I would hate to see him leave because of this.

The solution is simple enough, honor his request. All he asked is that people with what he finds offensive avatars not post in his threads. Most of those posting responses to his request are showing no respect to him or his feelings on the matter. Instead of chastising the man honor his wishes and let this controversy die.

Yes everyone here has the freedom to do as they please. Just don't make a mockery of his values in the process. This isn't about freedom of speech, the arts, or anything else. Many of you need to get over yourselves. If you want to read his posts fine. If you can't do as he has asked then don't post in his threads.

I agree with you.
After Katman ent me an email asking to take it down, I asked a question if I/we went too far.
3 days later my avatar is removed by Frank, per katman's request.
So it's a done deal. Katman wins.

I guess lots of the repsonses have been is this the right thing to do?
remove something because 1 person found it offensive.

I also agree about katman's technical knowledge, it's has been very, no extremely helpful to many people on the site. And his documentation of what he has done is great.

It comes back to some people here feeling that because of katmans beliefs and ideals, others are affected. And yes what we, myself, have used as avatars affects him.
So there's the dilema. Censorship.

This just hasn't effected Katman, it has effected a lot of people as KGB has stated, there has been little if no concern shown for the other people involved. I have been deeply offended by some of the pictures of dead people shown on this forum but I've chosen to not complain about them. I have been rediculed because of my hatred of and belief that the only good snake is a dead one, I posted in one thread that even a photo of one sent shivers down my spine yet someone smart ass decided to post one anyway.
Yes this needs to die but everyone needs to realise that a lot of OFFENSIVE MATERIAL has been posted over the years yet never has there been an issue like this.

Ok, since you do not give a rat's ass, lets put it this way....since your all about honoring wishes and not posting in 'his' threads, heres one for ya....Don't post in any thread that I have or possibly will post in. Your posts offend me because, well, just because they do. You see where this is going? They are not 'his' threads when posting in a 'members access' forum, nor do I or others need to 'get over ourselves'. Perhaps, and as Katman agreed with, he should have 'gotten over himself' instead of a LARGE magority having to get over him......I do not think a mockery of his values were implied, until he FORCED his values amongst the rest of the forum. You mentioned everyone here has the freedom to do as they please, to an extent, yes, but with that 'freedom' comes repercussions....

Man this sux, I mean, I read things in almost every post that I agree with and many things in many posts that I don't. At this point if I were Katman, I would apologize, if I were Keith I would apologizem or Jay or anyone else who has joined in. But I am not those people so... I APOLOGIZE! I disagree. With respect, may I say your post suggests a limited flexibility...or, very roughly speaking, about the same amount of tolerance for the opinions of others as has caused these outbursts of concern.

All of us have an opportunity to learn, whether from the initial complaint, or from observing what has transpired since.....and here I recommend searching for ALL the posts on the subject, as they stretch into many threads.
