I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

opinions: K&P Engineering oil filters

GS750

Forum Mentor
I was just randomly looking at some GS info and found this filter page from K AND P engineering.

They claim that their filters have 7 times the flow of comparable paper oil filters, magnetic prefiltering, rated at 35 micron filtering.

Anyone had any experience with them??

$99 for an oil filter? Why? You can buy 20 original equipment Suzuki filters for that price. The oiling system is designed to use a paper type filter, so any flow restriction they create is accounted for in the design.

Thanks for the reply Ed, In Australia you certainly can't buy 20 original filters for $99!!!
Actually you would be very lucky to be able to buy 5 for $99 from Aus.

On ebay AU$6 each from China (no way I would touch them though)
AU$12 from UK (again an unknown brand)
AU$ 15 for a K&N (KN-133) from the UK
AU$20 for a genuine filter (from UK)

Flow restriction? These bikes run 2PSI when freshly rebuilt, what could flow restriction be beneficial to?

Circulating oil benefits the dissipation of heat (from everything that I ever learnt in automotive engineering) :-&

They are cleanable, and the filtration levels are comparable with paper...

Remembering also that increased flow doesn't automatically mean increased pressure either :-k

I am aware that too high an oil pressure can have negative effects too.

How many microns do the paper filters filter to?

I am curious, as the KTM I just picked up came with one of these filters, not installed.

It uses two filters, so I need to find the other one, or stick with paper. Doesn't seem like a good idea to use two different types, not sure why but it doesn't seem wise.

If you can get K&N filters for AU$ 15, I would purchase half a dozen of them. Excellent filters, come with the o-rings, just good stuff overall.
