All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Opinions, please on cam covers

Which do you like better? I just picked these up... they need a good cleaning. Actually, I think they are aluminum, so I'll try and polish them. If they are not, then I'll get them re-chromed. Do you like the stock ones or the ribbed ones? :-D

I like the ribbed ones. The screw heads need to be replated or replaced with the dressier chrome ones!

Where did you find those?

Yeah, new chrome screws are being bought today. I'm going to try and polish the covers tonight. I got them from fatkid89704 from his GS1000 which he is parting out.

Tough to tell with all the other chrome blinding me:-s \\:D/ :-D
Have to see how nice they come out.
Hard to give an honest opinion yet.:-D
Parts are parts though.
You can never have too many

It's hard to tell without seeing more what the overall look is that you're going for on the bike, but close up like that, I definitely prefer the stock ones.

Randy...

I like the stock ones, but the ribbed ones are for "her" pleasure.

always carry extra one's with you in case she does'nt like the ribbed ones

I think I like the stock ones better too, they give a little contrast.

I like the ribbed ones better. They're different from everyone else's. I like individuality..............

I've been looking at them, and the more I do, the more I like them. They would probably look really good with fresh chrome on them.

I like the ribbed ones, Bruce. They surely are unique. I saw a set on e-bay about a month ago, but didn't pull the trigger on 'em. They were kinda pitted and oxidized. Nice score.

I have two new sets now. There is a seller on eBay that keeps putting the up every now and then. Haven't had a chance to put them on yet but now I can see what they will look like. Very nice :D

I like the stockers but it's hard to say until seeing the finned ones polished up or chromed.

Just in case anyone's interested, www.oldkawman.com, click on GS parts. He has a set of brand new chrome ribbed cam covers for $39.
Just checked...didn't see 'em. I sent an e-mail. They one's I saw on e-bay were not new. A brand new set would be hard to resist!

Your bike obviously isn't stock, so I vote for the ribbed ones.
If it was a box stocker it would be blasphemy to put those on, but in this case I think the ribbed ones add to the overall look.

i think the ribbed ones should go on the new beast.they will help it cut through the air better.just my .02 cents worth.
